The Button

Chapter 4: I Wish Everything Was Back To Normal!

"Lets go!" Tom rushed toward the door, "Lets see what's going on"

The Trio opened the door to find students and teachers screaming and running for cover.

"What have we done?" Jane whispered in horror.

A giant, tall as a skyscraper, looked down below them. As the children ran, the giant laughed as he leisurely walked across the playground, hands reaching toward the children,

"We have to do something!" Jack found a rusty broken pipe and hurled it towards the monster. The pipe sailed through the air, finally bouncing off the giant's toe. The giant shouldn't have felt it, but he looked down at his toes, then at the trio.

"Scatter!" They all spread out just as a chunk of the school came hurtling towards them

"CRRASH!" The chunk smashed onto the ground, sending grits scattering across the ground.

Jane hovered above the ground, "I'm gonna fly up there and smack that ugly giant in the eye"

"No" Tom grabbed her arm just as she tried to take off, "We can all just go back and undo the wish. That would fix everything"

"Where's the fun in that?"

"This is no messing matter!" Tom dragged her back toward the door, then stopped as he noticed Jack wasn't moving. "Jack! What are you doing? The giant is right there! Run!"

"GRROAARRR!!!!"

"Yeah, about the button" Jack muttered nervously, "After the wish, It cracked and started smoking. I don't think a wish would work now, certainly not a big wish like undoing what had caused it to smoke."

"It doesn't matter!" 

As they all rushed in just as a giant hand crashed behind them, Tom ran for the button. I wish  were no more bad guys!"

Nothing happened. The button started sizzling, then stopped.

"What do we do, what do we do!!???" Jane fretted

"I wish everything was back to normal!" Jack groaned 

There was a "CrrrrraaAAACCKK!!!!" and the walls tore open, revealing a smiling giant head.

"GRROAOARR"

Jack shoved Tom aside and pressed the button. "I wish I had superstrength!"

"BzzztBzztBzzzzzzzzzZZFLASH!" The weakened button worked the wish, making it crack more.

Suddenly, Jack felt stronger, his body feeling like it could lift entire mountains,

"Jack!"Tom said, "How did you make it work?"

"It's a small wish Tom! Ask for something that doesn't affect the whole world!"

Tom nodded, then pressed the button, "I wish I had superspeed!" 

"Flash!" the button used the last of its energy, and sizzled and cracked.

"Suddenly, Tom zipped out of the room in a flash, startling the giant with his speed. "Hruh?" The giant turned and stumbled as Jane and Jack whizzed around him, the colossal human swatting at them like flies. 

"Jack!" Jane barely avoided a giant hand as it swiped at her. "A little help? Please?" 

Jack looked at the stone chunk the giant had thrown at them, "Hmmm.." He picked up the stone and lifted it. It should've broken his back trying to lift it, but it felt light, like a tennis ball. Jack tossed it up and down, aiming at the giant, "Heads up!" Then threw it with all his might, and the chunk spiraled into the giant's face, splitting in half as the impact made the giant roar in pain and anger. "Aww yeah!"

"RRRAARRGhhGG!" The giant turned toward him, his eyes showing pure fury, he stomped towards Jack, ignoring Jane and Tom, and lifted his feet to crush him flat. 

Jack lifted his arms and readied himself just as the foot slammed down on him. Grunting with effort, he tried to stop being crushed flat, the reek of giant feet almost making him pass out, "Urrhhurr" He held his breath as the giant pressed harder, "Urr... Pedicure?" 

Jane laughed so hard she lost control of her flight. 

"Urrr..little..-elp..-ere?"

"Sorry" She flew to the giant's nose and kicked it. "Thwack!" making the giant let Jack go. Blinking in surprise, letting out great puffs of air, his head leaning back. "Jane! Look out!" as the giant let out a huge sneeze, sending Jane hurtling through the air and slamming through a school window.

"Over here!" Tom whacked the giants other foot, "You miserable midget! You demonic dog!"

The giant grunted and looked at Tom, growling like a tractor. 
"That's right! Tom said, backing up onto a pile of debris, "Can't catch me! You sedated snail!"

The giant roared and brought his fist up to crush him.

At the last second, Tom darted away, his super speed sending him hurtling away from the giant fist that slammed onto a chunk of concrete, the momentum sent the chunk end going up, launching piles of broken concrete at the giant like a catapult. The next moment, the giant was buried under a mountain of boulders. 

"Woohoo!" Jack cried, "We did it!"

"But wheres Jane?" Tom said, "She got blasted away by the giant's sneeze"

"Oh yeah" Jack said, pretending to fret "She's probably all covered in germs now.. What do we do!?!"

"Jack, this is no messing matter!" Tom whizzed around the stairs, "She could be injured or worse!"

"Nah, I don't fall that easily" Jane floated down gently to them. "But that sudden blast of wind made me dizzy."

There was an awkward silence. Then Jane's face flushed red with embarrassment. I mean, you know, the sneeze.

Students and Teachers started crawling out from their classrooms,

"Is that big man gone now?"

"I don't know, but I've never seen anything quite like it."

"We'd better go now" Tom grabbed their wrists, "Or they'll notice us.

"But why?" Jack said, "We haven't done anything wrong!"

"Yeah! We even saved them!"

"Just think about it" Tom said to them, "They don't know what that thing was, so they will look for answers. And since they saw us with those superpowers, they're gonna start asking us questions. Do you like answering questions?"

Both shook their heads.

"Shouldn't we tell Ms Cru we're leaving?"

Tom and Jane stared at Jack. 

"Miss Cru wont let us go anywhere" Tom said.

"Yeah, you know how cruel she is," Jane shuddered, "We are NOT gonna tell her we have superpowers and a magic button and we are running away.

"What about our parents? Wont they feel worried?"

"Once this button recharges or something, we can make a wish to send us back in time or something, so it would be like it never happened."

"Then lets go. And bring the button. We have to figure out a way to reverse that monster spell, It's too dangerous."

As they were walking out of the school, with the button in Toms hands, Jane suddenly thought of something.

"Hey guys" She said, "Didn't we wish for those weapons? Those Iron daggers and Hammers and Swords? We never used them when we were fighting the giant!"

"Oh" Tom and Jack said, at the same time.

WILL THE TRIO SURVIVE A JOURNEY INTO THE UNKNOWN???!!!???
