There was a knock at the door and a long pause after. No one spoke so I slowly walked to the door to open it to see Brooke standing there. Now in my house I would never see a girl dress the way she did for what I’m assuming she considered night clothes. She had her hair up in a ponytail and had this tank top exposing a little bit of the bra she was wearing and only her underwear. Was that a little inappropriate yeah but at this point I didn’t even think too much about it. My only thought was what brought her to my bedroom. “What’s up?” I finally replied looking down the hallway to see if Mikal was awake as well to notice she was the only one in my hallway.

“I just want to say thank you again, we were traveling around a lot in fear and to have a place we finally felt save in took a while.” She responded and I could actually sense her gratitude. She gave me a small hug around my neck and walked back to the spare bedroom where she and him slept the evening prior.

It was something that would probably make most guys be in daze from what I just saw by how she was presenting herself. I remember when Mia use to do that with me but she eventually got so comfortable it ended up being clothing she would wear if she was working out. Girls always amused me when it came to their appearance and how they want a guy to see them in the morning. Like if they slept over with them they would get up all fast and clean up so the guy doesn’t see them without make up. Well that’s at least Leonard would always say.

I went downstairs after a while to see Brooke walking around my living room looking at the pictures of Mia and me. She would pick up a few and really look at the photo intensely and then put them down. She finally looked and saw me walking down the steps and put the picture she had in her hand back down. She looked at me and then smiled then went in and sat on a bar stool next to the breakfast bar in my kitchen. I walked passed her and grabbed a cup of water and sat down at the dinner table only a few feet away from her.
“So, if you don’t mind me asking is that girl in those photos your fiancé? She asked eagerly.

“Yes.” I responded

“She is gorgeous  I’ve never seen a girl with such stunning hair like she has. And her smile is always so charming.” She spoke again rather quickly.

I gently nodded to her and continued to stare at the cup of water I had.

“What was her name?” She asked rather quietly

I looked over at her and she kind of sat back a little bit trying to not seem so pushy. I didn’t think someone would be so interested in another person’s life as much as this girl was. Before I spoke her name Mikal appeared from the top of the staircase making his way down. He looked relaxed at most part and seemed less tense from the day before and sat directly on the couch. I looked back at Brooke to see her still expecting an answer and I kind of shrugged and said “Mia.”

She then smiled and walked over to Mikal and started to talk to him silently. They were a rather odd duo sometimes after only knowing them for a few moments. They both finally got up and sat down at the table with myself and she gently nudged him as if they had something rather important on their mind. He finally stopped looking down at his watch and looked over to me with a confused look. He seemed as if he was amazed by something and I wasn’t really sure what. She looked over towards the living room to try and not look as if she was a part of the conversation but wasn’t hiding it that well.

“Lucas, we were up talking and the thought came across to both of us. How did you survive all of this here? When we saw the news go through these towns outside of the city people were running away as fast as they could to the hospitals.” He asked as if he was trying to figure out his words.

“Well I actually wasn’t here.” I responded without elaborating to much

“Well why are you here? Why wouldn’t you be trying to find other survivors and seeing if there is a way to reverse what happened?” He asked in sort of confused.
