When I awoke it was odd everything seemed normal. I saw Mia in the bathroom doing her hair dressed in amazing night clothing that complimented her body. I was back home and in bed seeing her singing to herself in the mirror. She looked over at me and smiled and then made a weird face and giggled afterwards. "What day is it?" I asked and saw her look over at me. "It's your birthday silly. Come on you really think I would forget. I mean it's not like for the past three months we planned on going to Las Vegas to celebrate." She walked over in nothing but her best looking lingerie and sat down in bed with me and laid on top of my chest. "And if you don't get up and get ready we won't be able to spend as much time there as possible." She kissed my check and then closed the door of the bathroom behind her. I got up and looked outside of the window and saw the everyday world I was used to. It was the most confusing thing I felt in a very long time.
I raised my voice and asked her a question "Babe have you ever had a dream that felt so long you thought that it was real life?" I asked. She laughed and said "Yes now hurry up and get ready." I got up from our bed and walked into the closet and found one of my suits already laid out for me to wear. It was my light grey suit and a peach tie with white linen shirt. It looked good together but I don't think I would wear the white shirt with just that tie because I'd look too vibrant. I began to get dress to see Mia walk out in an amazing gown it was long and black with a little bit of exposure on her chest in legs looking more elegant than trashy. She sat down messing with her ear rings watching me get dressed. She laughed and looked at me putting on the shirt. "I missed it when you use to have better abs" she said and made a silly face at me. I couldn't help but laugh and turned around and grabbed the tie and the suit jacket.
We got downstairs and grabbed our luggage and put it in the back of her car. It was weird the way it looked today rather than usual. I saw it in a different eye I suppose. I guess it's because of my dream more than anything. I shook my head and began to look at her getting another thing from the house as we walked back out of the garage. We got some snacks and drinks from the fridge and then locked up the house. I looked over at her and she packed the back seat and sat down in the passenger seat. I looked around the garage seeing what was left and then got in the driver seat and then drove ourselves out of the garage and on to the main road. Everything seemed normal as I looked over to her holding my hand as we drove north to Las Vegas. I felt happy as we drove in silence for a while.
We made our way through the greater phoenix area passing by areas we use to work which brought up small conversations we would have with each other and finally reached the road that made it a lot easier to get to our destination in better time. It was a two way road that made its way up to Kingman, Arizona. That was our favorite town in our eyes whenever we made this road trip. We stopped at the same Taco shop on our way there and back from Las Vegas. It was a fair amount of road before we got there unfortunately. But with the amount of music we would play would make at least the time not feel as long. Each time we passed a car I felt as if we were getting closer and closer. I looked over at her and she was watching the nature pass by while we were driving.
It got to a point where we were the only one on the road for miles. I couldn't see someone behind us or in front of us in that matter. It was odd because whenever we drove this road it was always packed most of the time or at least moderately busy. People would be going on their own road trips or we would see Moving trucks or Semis but we didn't see one of them. "Feels like were abandoned" I laughed and then got no response. I looked over at her and her face was still. She was staring forward and seemed lifeless. "Mia?" I tried to get her attention and shook her hand to get movement from her. She remained quiet and then I looked forward and saw a familiar sight. A shining silver SUV in the distance. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and opened them. The vehicle I was driving changed before my eyes. I was in my truck again and I looked to my hand and hers was now gone. I looked over to her seat and she was no longer there. I slammed on the breaks to find myself in front of her car once again. It sat there in the middle of the road but this time it was different she was in the passenger seat sitting there with duct tape around her mouth. I looked around in my truck to see nobody was sitting with me.I ran outside to her car hearing her scream through the duct tape and finally she broke free from what was holding her down and she began to take the duct tape of her mouth and started shouting my name. I ran to her door and tried to open it and saw flames begin to arise from the back seat we both tried to open the door and finally I had enough of it. "Move back!" I shouted and took my jacket off and wrapped it around my hand. I then started to try and break the window and got nothing. It would crack but wouldn't break through. I used my elbow and my fist and finally got it to break I felt the heat from the car break the window out and shoot out towards me. When I looked back at where she was sitting she was now gone. The car then lost its battle to the fire and it went up in flames. I moved back to my truck and slowly fell to the ground staring at her vehicle. "Lucas." I heard someone say and I looked around seeing no one.
I continued to hear my name being repeated and then I was awoken to see a stranger in front of my face and my hands tied behind my back. I looked over to my left and saw Brooke crying ruining what make up she had on. Then I saw Mikal look at me in fear and then had his mouth cover in duct tape to my right. I sat there and then looked forward in anger to see this stranger. He was very mean looking and had a look on his face that amazed me. He was giving me this smirk and I could see a giant scar down his eyebrow right through to his cheek overlapping his eye. It was then I knew I was not going to let this guy take my life. I will find Mia and these men who look as if they were ex-military had no way of stopping me. Not even now. "What are you doing out here?" the stranger asked I didn't respond to him and then he shook his head and punched me in the face. I couldn't feel the pain and then he asked again and I didn't answer. I began to hear footsteps behind me and it sounded lighter than your normal steps. It was heels.
The guy stood up in front of me looking very startled to see the person approaching us. I couldn't tell who they were staring at even when I tried to turn around the stranger would push me back to look the other way. He was talking to someone who had a strange feeling about them. I could tell that the person they were talking to really was the one in charge and had these two guys in fear if they made any mistakes. I overheard the voices talking but couldn't make out what they were saying. It was a female that they were listening to. She had a very strong subtle way of speaking and didn't allow them to make any excuses for their actions. I would sometimes hear the occasional words like "capture" or "aggressive" but nothing more than a word in their conversations. After two of them came back around to see us we continued to remain silent. Brooke had the same tears coming down her face while Mikal only looked down to the ground and that was it. Then a voice came across that made me confused at first which made me think my mind was playing tricks on me. "Tie them up and bring the back to base, that's when we can take a better look at these three." There was no way that voice could be who I thought it could be. I tried to quickly turn her way to see who she was and before I could get a good look a bag went over my head.
She had long black hair a light blue tank top on and some cargo pants. That's all I could see before I was unfortunate blinded by a dirty sandy bag they would pick us up by. We were placed in to the back of a van and then started to make are way from there. I could hear Brooke still crying but Mikal I couldn't even hear him breathing he was extremely quiet and hated what was going on. I could tell after looking at him when we were on the ground and he wouldn't even look at me. Each minute felt like a century we would turn here and there but always fell over at some points because of the bumps they would hit. I eventually just found the wheel hump and just leaned against that. I grew restless in the back of the van when I could hear any noise outside but dirt and dust being drove on. We couldn't hear the voices of the driver. I could feel the blood from my face begin going beyond my neck down towards my torso. At this point I never even knew I was bleeding. I guess a couple of good shots to the face made that happen. I got a little tired at the way we were going and eventually felt my eyelids get heavy and decided to rest for the time being.
