Rapunzel sat on her bed, over thinking everything that a person could ever possibly think of. She thought about Jack, about disobeying her mother, about the rain now falling in heavy sheets.

"Rapunzel?" The girl shot up quickly, brushing the frost off of her dress and brown cloak Jack let her borrow.

THE BROWN CLOAK JACK LET HER BORROW!? She undid the small clasp at the top, numb fingers hurriedly carrying out the actions once done by the boy with silver hair. He seemed to do it up for her so easily, so why is taking it off becoming such a burden? The foot steps of her mother where nearing closer as she slung the thing under her bed, sitting down and anticipating Gothel. The door swung open, the woman waltzing in and taking a seat beside her daughter.

"Why are you still awake sweet heart?" Her tone caused Rapunzel to sink back into the duvet, thinking for an answer desperately.

"The rain kept me up mother, that's all."

"Oh, the rain? Well I don't think the rain is that loud my flower. Go to bed." The girl let out a sigh of relief as Gothel got up, just about to kiss her forehead when something grabbed at her attention. A brown piece of material sticking out from underneath the small bed.

"Rapunzel." The sweet smile placed on her mothers mouth  caused a sickness to pale her face.

"What's this?"

Jack was in love. He knew it. It had never happened to him before, but he knew. There was no doubt in the world that the girl in front of him couldn't be his forever. The only problem was he didn't know if she loved him back. He was scared and happy and sad and a little confused. But staring at her right now seemed to make everything just...melt away. Confusion was set clearly across his features as an older woman with black matted curls held up the cloak he lent Rapunzel. He saw how she cringed back as the woman fisted  the material tightly in her hands, shaking it some what aggressively before bringing her free hand down to Rapunzels cheek. That was when he snapped.

The anger he felt bubbled up as he and the wind forced open the small window to Rapunzels room, his back straightening as he held his staff pointedly towards the woman. The look on the Rapunzels face was pure horror, looking to Gothel as she turned around quickly.

"How did that window open!?" She said, pushing back some dark hair before making her way towards Jack. He gripped the staff more tightly, knuckles turning white before something strange happened. Gothel walked straight past him. Not just past him..through him. He gasped at the strange feeling, an odd sensation tingling up throughout his being. It felt as though he was slowly melting, the wave of heat clinging onto Gothel and not leaving until she exited his body. His breathing came out in deep pants, chest heaving as he eyed Rapunzel warily. She stood from her place on the bed, rushing over before he gripped her shoulder. Jack couldn't help but kneel on the ground with widened eyes, fisting the fabric of his shirt to try and rid himself of the sudden lack of breath.

He found the strength to push Rapunzel away, the sound of a window clicking shut bringing Gothel back to attention.

"There." The older woman clapped her hands together, eyes narrowing on her daughter.

"Rapunzel dear, you look like you've seen a ghost, now go to sleep and we will discuss the jacket in the morning." Her blonde hair waved quickly as she nodded, looking over at Jack with a furrowed brow.

As soon as the door closed, she took her chance, kneeling down to the pale faced boy. Her small hands brushed across his cheek, flinching back slightly at the cold seeping into the pads of her finger tips.

"Jack, wh-"

"I don't know." He interrupted her, head shaking. She could see the tears brimming over his eyes, though he tried his best to keep them hidden as a deeper burning continued inside him. Rapunzel could see him..so why..? He shook his head once more, standing up and grabbing his staff that lay forgotten on the floor.

"I'm sorry punz." He muttered out in a slur, saying her name in a strange fashion.

"I'm.....gotta go now." The look he wore was unsettling as he tried to push open the window. It wouldn't budge.

"Jack-"

"I can do it Rapunzel it's fine." He pushed more harshly on the glass, the span of his hand looking quite large.

"Jack she locked it, you ca-"

"I can do it! I can do this, leave me alone!" He shouted at her, fist hitting the locked window. With a sense of defeat, he sunk to  the ground, sorrow making him appear older.

The boy didn't even try to stop the flow of tears this time, letting them roll halfway down his cheeks before they froze in place. His head was burried in his lap as his knees were brought up to his chest. She couldn't see him, and the moon suddenly decided to tell him why.

"They don't believe, they can't see."
