Reality

I wake up the next morning from the sunlight beaming through my curtains. I get dressed and get ready for school.

"Zuri!"

I hear mom calling me from down stairs.

"Yeah?" I shouted back yawning.

"Aren't you going to eat breakfast?" She said loud enough for me to hear.

"What?" I said to myself and sat on my bed looking at my alarm clock.

8:15 A.M.

"What!" I jumped off the bed quickly and ran down stairs slamming my door shut.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" I shouted as I went to put my shoes on.

"Your not eating breakfast?" Mom asked getting a pan out to make breakfast.

"I don't have time! I'm going to be late!" I got my backpack and ran towards the door.

"Be careful." Mom shouted from behind.

"I will. Bye!" I waved and closed the front door. I ran down the street and looked at the time on my phone.

8:25 A.M.

School is going to start soon!

It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for me to get to school. That's when I'm still on sleep mode. Right now, I'm on "get your ass to school right now" mode.

8:40 and I made it just before the first bell rang.

"Thank goodness I made it on time. I thought I wouldn't make it." I sit on a big rock that was in front of the school.

The sun was shining really bright making me sweat even more. Then a shadow came up to me, covering the sunlight.

"You look like you ran all the way here from your house." Evie stood in front of me putting her backpack on the ground.

"I did. I slept in and didn't think I would make it."

"Well, you did. Good job, Zuri." Evie smiled and patted my head.

"What am I a dog?" I asked looking up at her. The bell rang and everyone started going towards their class. I watch Evie pick her backpack up and start leaving.

I pick up my things and start walking towards my first class. I walk through the hallway and turned a corner.

Thud!

I bumped into someone and we both fell to the floor. I look at who I bumped into and see a girl that wore a fedora.

"I'm sorry." I said helping her pick up her things that flew out of her hands. She used the fedora to cover her eyes as she picked up her books. Who is she?

After we picked up her stuff, she stood up quickly. As she got up I saw her eyes, a bright red color. She then walked away quickly as if nothing happened.

What a weird person. Why was she wearing a fedora? Is she new to this school?

I snap out of my thoughts and made sure I had everything.

"I don't have time to stand around! Class!" I rush to class.

I made it to class in time before the second bell rang. I sit down and look out the window. The sun was shining and no clouds blocked it. The teacher came in and started writing on the board.

"All right class, take out your textbooks."

12:25 - Lunch Time

I sit on the grass under a tree. I stay still for a while watching people pass by me and then lie down. I look at the sky wondering where Evie was. After a few minutes of boredom I hear someone's books fall to the ground.

I look to my right to see the same girl I bumped into this morning standing with her books on the ground. In front of her were three girls that are in some of my classes laughing at her.

Those girls are bullying someone again? I wasn't really surprised because they always try to get attention from someone.

I get up and walk over to the three girls.

"Can you leave her alone?" I said picking up her things. The girls were trying to glare at me, which didn't work.

"Whats your problem? This is none of your business." One of the girls said trying to act cool. They all, once again, tried to glare at me.

"You guys don't have to glare at me to creep me out. The make-up is enough to look like creepy clowns" the girls opened their mouths in shock from what I said. It got silent for a minute or two.

"If you are just going to stand there then leave" I say breaking the silence.

"You-!" The leader of the little group was about to punch me until the fedora girl grabbed her arm, stopping her from punching me.

"If you don't mind," she said glaring at the leader, "leave immediately."

The girls got scared and ran off right after the fedora girl let go of the girl's arm.

"I'm sorry. I tried helping you, but in the end you helped me." I felt really bad being saved from a punch that I should have dodged.

"I should be the one saying sorry. I brought you into the conversation and almost got hurt."

The girl turned around and took her hat off. I was right, I thought as I look at her eyes. They were red. A blood dark red color.

The girl noticed me looking at her eyes and sighed.

"I have a strange color in my eyes, don't I?" She said breaking the silence.

"You do. Why?" I asked.

"That is something I will tell you the next time we meet."

She turned and left without saying a goodbye or anything.

"Ok. Bye then." I said watched her leave for a while and then turned around.
