Lost H.S

Chapter 6

I listened to Cologne by Selena Gomez when I wrote this chapter.

Harry's POV

It only took me about five minutes to arrive at the lake. I walked alongside it until I saw a figure sitting on a rock with their feet in the water.

I smiled slightly at the sight. This was our little place, no one knows about it but us and I love it. This was where we would sit and talk for hours. Once we even slept here.

This was the place where I proposed. I spent all day setting up the fairy lights while Jake kept her busy, I wanted to surprise her but she already knew I was going to propose because she found the ring.

I bent down removing my shoes and socks and rolled up my jeans before walking over to her. I placed my shoes next to hers and sat next to her.

She jumped slightly and turned to see me and let out a breath "you scared me"

I smiled and put my feet in the freezing water "I'm sorry"

She gave me a cute smile "how do you know this place?"

I shrugged my shoulders "I found it with a friend a while ago" she nodded her head before looking down at the water.

I bit my lip thinking of what to say to her "Jake called me, he was worried" she closed her eyes and sighed "I just had to leave"

It was really hard to stop myself from reaching over and holding her hand and squeezing it.

"Why?" She played with her fingers before looking up at me "my dad" Pretty much sums it up.

"His 'girlfriend' is pregnant"

May?

They're still together? I think she was a senior when I was a freshman. She tried to sleep with me once when they first got together and I always thought it was her dads sick way of getting rid of me.

She let out a dry laugh and I let her rant "I know she doesn't really love him I mean she's 28 for Christ sake and she's a gold digging bitch"

She ran a hand down her face "I'm sorry I'm dropping this on you"

I shook my head and placed my hand on hers on instinct "it's okay, you had to let it out"

She looked down at our hands and then looked up to meet my eyes. I thought she'd move her hand but she didn't.

I carefully entwined our fingers which she seemed to be okay with and ran my thumb on the back of her hand. I use to do this when she was stressed and I could see her shoulders relaxing and I smiled to myself.

When she was calm she spoke "how'd you know Jake?"

"We went to school together" she tilted her head to the side. Her eyes widened slightly and I had my hopes up thinking she remembered something.

"Did we have English together?" My heart stopped for a second.

I nodded my head with a smile "yeah I sat two rows back"

She smiled back. I moved closer to her so our shoulders were brushing and I noticed her cheeks going red.

"You always had your head in a book" she laughed and my smiled widened at the beautiful sound that I missed so much.

"I guess I was a little bit of a nerd"

My hand reached up and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear " a cute nerd" I so wanted to say my cute nerd.

But it was enough for her to blush even more.

"Can I tell you something?" I nodded my head as I kept rubbing my thumb on the back of her hand.

"I barely know you yet I feel like I do"

I opened my mouth ready to tell her everything but my phone went off and I sighed in annoyance as I took it out of my pocket to see a text from Jake.

Have you found her yet?

I heard her sigh as she stood up "I guess I should go back before he sends a search party"

I stood up with her and put my shoes on and slipped my jacket off and putting it around her shoulders.

I held my hand out to her "come on I'll take you home" she took a hold of my hand as we walked over to my car and getting in.

I was ready to tell her everything. About us, about the accident, everything but yet I'm also glad that my phone stopped me cause I'm afraid of her reaction.

She gave me the address to her apartment and drove her there. I walked her up to her door and she let me in when she unlocked it.

We both walked into the living room to see Jake pacing but stopped when he heard us walk in.

He walked over to Abby and pulled her into a hug "I was so worried" I stood there awkwardly as they hugged, wishing it was me.

She pulled away and smiled at me which I returned "I'm fine, I just wanted to be alone and then Harry found me"

He smiled at me "thanks man" Abby shrugged my jacket off and handed it to me and I slipped it back on. I was just about to say goodbye but was surprised when she wrapped her arms around my waist.

I wrapped my arms around her shoulders as she rested her head on my chest. I closed my eyes and rested my cheek on top of her head. I have missed this so much and I'm trying so hard to not cry.

I could feel the lump form in my throat and opened my eyes to see Jake standing there with a huge smile on his face as he watched us.

"Thank you for being there" I only tightened my arms in response cause if I speak I may sob.

I didn't want to pull away but I forced myself to. I gave her a smile and cleared my throat "I'll see you tomorrow night" I gave her hand a squeeze before walking myself out.

Once I closed the door I leant my back against it as I felt a tear run down my cheek.

I wiped it away and took a shaky breath before leaving the building and getting into the car.

I kinda cried when writing this and I thought the song fitted this chapter.
