I looked at the clock for the tenth time in one minute. Today was Chris' and I's first date together and I was having a panic attack. I didn't know where we were going because Chris had refused to tell me claiming it was a surprise. Today was also the day before winter break and we were all heading back home tomorrow. All I hoped was that the date turned out great and didn't ruin my whole vacation and our friendship for me.

I glanced at the mirror, for the fifteenth time, to see how I looked. I was wearing a matching black crop top and skirt, Kim Kardashian style, which showed my few curves and black high heeled ankle boots. My long red hair hung loosely around my shoulders, cascading down in waves. I also had light make up on. Some powder here and there to add some colour to my pale complexion, eyeliner which made my green eyes pop, mascara and a red lipstick which complemented my hair. All in all I looked pretty good and I was way out of my comfort zone.

Our date was by eight o'clock which made me guess that he was taking me out for dinner. I had been ready an hour early and I was anxious to go. I glanced at the clock again. Seven fifty-five.

"You know glancing at the clock over and over again won't make the time go any faster", Lily said with a smirk. She had been giving me 'I told you so looks' ever since I told her about my date with Chris. Still on that thought I heard a knock on our door.

"Don't open it yet. Let him wait a little. You don't want him to think you've been waiting for him, do you?" I waited anxiously to hear a few more knocks before I moved slowly to open the door.

"Whoa. You look beautiful." I could feel the blush begin to spread through my cheeks. After giving Chris a thorough glance, I knew we weren't going for dinner. He was wearing tight blue jeans, a plain t-shirt and holding his coat in his hands. I instantly felt over dressed and embarrassed.

"Don't give me that look Ana. I know your thinking your over dressed but you look perfect. I only think you should change your shoes to something more comfortable." I smiled at that. He knew me so well.

After driving for a while I knew where we were going.

"Your taking me to Central park."

"Yep. We are going for a picnic."

    "At eight fifteen at night."

"Didn't anyone tell you the best picnic is during the night. I have a long list of what we are going to do so buckle up this is going to be the best date and night of your life."

After eating our short but delicious meal of cup cakes and ice-cream, we lay together side by side on our blanket gazing at the sky.

"I have some thing for you", Chris said rising to remove something from his pocket.

    "What is it?"

"Its a surprise. Now turn around and close your eyes." I did as I was told and waited anxiously for my gift. I knew what it was as soon as it touched my neck.

"You can open your eyes now."I glanced straight down. It was the most beautiful necklace I'd ever seen. It was silver with diamond studs all over and in the middle where the pendant was supposed to be there it was in cursive writing, his nickname for me Ana.

"This must have cost a fortune."

"Don't worry about it. I got a friend of mine studying jewellery design to make it for me. The diamonds aren't real. I can't afford real diamonds just yet but I promise you one day I'll change that necklace to one that is made of real diamonds so don't loose it."
