*Daedalus POV*
For some people the first day of school could be thrilling, a new start, or a time to come back and see friends. I was not one of those people. The only thing I was concerned with was helping my younger brother Icarus find his dorm, and then heading over to the Athens building where my dorm was. Unfortunately, Icarus was staying in Sparta, which was on the entire other side of the campus. I hefted my backpack back up my shoulder. Icarus was excited to finally be able to leave the nest, but I couldn't help but wish he would just slow down. He was so excited to meet new people, yet I was here worried about losing my best friend.
Whenever people met us for the first time, they could never tell we were brothers. Icarus had a messy head of sandy blonde hair with freckles sprayed across his tanned face. I on the other hand had light brown hair and a pair of round glasses that I liked to hide behind for comfort.
I watched as Icarus ran ahead looking back at me.
"Hey Daedalus! How 'bout we race to the building? I bet I can beat you!" Icarus yelled.
"I would rather not. I have to carry my bag, but how about you run ahead and wait for me," I answered.
"Okay. You can meet me in my room. Do you remember what number it was?"
"B242. Now go. I wouldn't want to hold you back from your excitement," I answered calmly. I watched as he ran toward the now approaching building. I got my phone out to text our mom that we had gotten there safely until someone ran right into me.
"Hey, watch where your going," I yelled.
"Forgive me, I just seem to be lost." The person I was talking to was a blonde girl with startling blue eyes, that on most occasions would woo any boy she laid eyes on, but to me she was just like every other pretty girl I had ever seen. "My name is Andromeda. Do you think you can point me in the direction of the Thebes building?" Andromeda asked, batting her eyelashes.
"Yeah, just head towards the main building, then take a right until you find the path that will lead you directly to Thebes," I answered.
"Thank you dearly..."
"Daedalus."
"Thank you, Daedalus," Andromeda said sweetly. "You're my hero." And with that she walked away. I sighed before I started heading back towards Sparta. Once inside I went upstairs, finding B242 hidden next to the vending machines. I knocked on the door. I heard shuffling, when the door was thrown open by one of the people I was assuming was Icarus' roommates. He was short and kind of chubby with long unruly black hair, that was tied back in a ponytail. He had large patches of stubble over his chin, as if he had tried growing out a beard, but at the last minute decided to shave everything off.
"Unless you have food, you mean nothing to me," he said, gruffly. I opened my mouth to answer, but was cut off when Icarus' head peaked around the corner.
"It's find Tantalus. That's just my brother," Icarus acknowledged. Tantalus left the door way, grumbling under his breath that they never have food. I walked over to Icarus, who was currently organizing his text books on the desk he had gotten for his birthday last year.
"Were you able to settle in okay. None of your roommates are a problem, are they?" I asked, glancing at Tantalus in the hall way, trying to force his hands up the vending machine with no luck.
"Yeah they're fine. Besides you don't have to worry, I can take care of myself. Don't you have some more important things to worry about?" Icarus asked.
"Nothing is as important as my little brother," I responded.
"Oh yeah. What about Cassandra?" he asked, smugly.
"What about her?" I answered, quickly.
"Have you texted her since we got here. I'm sure she would be very excited to talk to you."
"I'm sure she would, but I'm not ready to see her yet. I don't know if I can deal with her right now. Maybe later, but not now," I answered. Icarus just shrugged his shoulders.
"Whatever. I'm fine here if you want to go," Icarus said.
"I don't know if I want to leave just yet."
"It wasn't a choice. You need to leave. I'll be fine just go." I walked out the door, Icarus waving to me before slamming the door in my face. I turned to leave except I tripped over Tantalus, who was on the ground, his arm stuck in the vending machine.
"Do you have any cash?"
