*Jason POV*
The day after I met Medea, I got fired. Even though I loved my job and I tried my best every day, when they reviewed the footage of what happened that day, they claimed I had inflicted the anger by disturbing the customers. Their loss. I wrote a letter to corporate, but I doubt they have time for a laid off employee.
"Jason, I'm so sorry I feel like this is all my fault," Medea said, rubbing my back in a comforting way. I had invited Medea over to my dorm to help me with Mr. Stymphalian's science homework. Everyone calls Mr. Stymphalian either Mr. S if they're a good kid or Birdie because of his sharp pointed nose and beady eyes.
"It wasn't your fault Medea. You couldn't help it that creep was attacking you," I defended. "Besides, I would do it all over again if I had to."
"Well lets hope it doesn't happen again," she replied. I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her to my side. She looked up at me almost expectantly, her eyes sparkling. I looked back down at my book.
"So can you explain to me again the difference between cumulonimbus and cumulus clouds again," I asked, carefully taking my arm off of her.
"Yeah sure," she said. Was that a hint of dejection in her voice? I took her hand and gave it a squeeze, but she didn't do as much as glance at them. "We should get back to work."
"Sure."
*Andromeda POV*
"Oh my gosh. I can't believe he texted you back with a winky face!" Io squealed. We had been sitting on my bed together, texting Perseus random questions. We had asked him who his favorite princess was, and he responded saying Cinderella because she was the classic princess. Io pointed out that out of all the princesses I look the most like her.
"You're a princess in his eyes!" We both started squealing even harder. "You two would make such a cute couple! I'm surprised he hasn't asked you out yet!" Io said.
"Well we only just met and he's technically not supposed to date, but I think I can work on him," I said with a wink.
"Too bad I can't use some of you magic on Zeus," Io said with a pouty face.
"Yeah too bad," I said laughing. I stretched out on my bed as I felt my phone vibrate next to me. I picked it up and opened my most recent message from Perseus.
P: since you asked the most recent question, now its my turn.
A: k
P: when was the last time you had a boyfriend?
This caught me off guard. I looked up at Io, who had started scrolling through her Instagram feed. I glanced back at it. Should I tell him the truth.
A: over a year ago
P: was it messy
A: no, but it ended with a lot of pain
P: im so sorry
A: its fine
I felt bad, but I wasn't entirely lying. My last relationship had been over a year ago, and it was a messy break up, but it had been my fault. I had gone to a party and had gotten carried away dancing with an upper class-men in a way that was more than just for friends. The guys sister had seen us and started back lashing me whenever she saw me and spamming my social media with horrible comments. We broke up, but not before pain had been felt from both sides.
A: my turn, have you ever kissed someone
P: i guess i haven't found the right girl yet
A: well if you ever find her, would you kiss her
P: look who is asking questions when it isn't their turn
A: you r no fun
P: well Mr. No Fun is checking out for the night, see you tomorrow in history
A: c u there <3 ;)
P: ;)
I held my phone to my chest, my heart beating a mile a minute. He winked back. I turned to tell Io to see she was curled up in a ball at the foot of my bed, her phone pressed against her cheek. I got my spare blanket out of the closet and laid it over. I took her phone from off her face. She had a new message and I opened it up. I mentally scolded Io for not keeping a password on her phone. I found her messages and opened up the most recent one. By the looks of her most recent messages it looked like she was texting selfies back and forth between a guy I didn't recognize. I opened her Instagram and looked at her Direct Messages. The last person messaged was between someone whose username was lightning_king. I went back to her texts and found the name I was looking for. Io was texting Zeus, and they were planning on meeting at Hesperide Park. I smiled at myself. Maybe I did have some special magic after all.
