Clary Fray

It's Monday morning and I'm so tired that I can barely function. I've nearly run into a wall five times already, and it's only 7:30! I was too lazy to actually search for an outfit, so I pulled on a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt; and pulled my hair into a lazy bun with strands falling out and framing my freckled face.
"Good morning, sunshine!" Isabelle greets me. Her big smile is framed with red lipstick matching her fashionable outfit- a loose, ruby-red tank top with a black leather, peter-pan collar, black leggings, leather jacket, and matching ankle boots. She hands me a cup of coffee with my name written across it in one hand, in the other is a cup with her name.
I shove my last book in my locker and take the warm, paper cup from her perfectly manicured hand. "Thanks, I'm exhausted!" I take a sip and shut my locker. "How are you so happy? It's Monday morning... You should be brain dead like me."
"I don't know. It's just a good day I guess." She combs her fingers through her long, black hair. "Have you had breakfast, yet? There's still about a half-hour till class starts and I want something to eat."
I shake my head and, yet again, run into a wall. I somehow managed to keep my coffee from spilling, though.
"Jeez, you're really out of it today..." Izzy says as someone else utters and apology.
I look into the golden eyes of Jace Herondale...great. I don't know if I should roll my eyes or apologize. I decide to do both. "No, it's my fault." Then I roll my eyes.
Just as I'm about to turn away, Isabelle starts speaking.
"Hi, I'm Isabelle Lightwood." She says with a big smile and an extended hand.
He returns the smile and gently shakes her hand. "I'm Jace Herondale, but I'm sure you know that."
"Yeah, but I was wondering if you would like to join us and our other friends for breakfast now?" She continues.
I internally groan. Of course she would do this.
"Iz, let's go! I'm starving!" I say, not bothering to hide my agitation. I cross my arms and tap my foot on the ground.
"Be patient, Clary. Sorry about her. She's a redhead, you know how they have a temper." Isabelle jokes. She may not be trying to sound flirty, but she's coming off that way. She's just naturally flirty, I know she has a huge crush on Simon and has since the seventh grade.
Jace looks at me again and smirks. I glare back at him. "Sure, you lead the way."
Izzy walks next to me as we make our way to the cafeteria. I walk with a scowl the entire way.
Simon and Alec share the same shocked expression as we enter with the Jace Herondale. I take my seat across from Simon and he tries his hardest not to laugh at my expression.
"Guys, meet Jace Herondale." Isabelle introduces, and he waves. "This is Simon Lewis, and my brother, Alec Lightwood." They both wave back.
I wonder if I'm the only one who notices the excitement in Alec's eyes. I'm sure Izzy noticed, but not sure about Jace.
"Clary, guess what I got yesterday." Simon says with his hands searching through his book bag.
"Special edition copy of Naruto." I blandly, reply.
His happy mood goes to disappointed in a second. "How'd you know?"
I give him a a small smile. "Lucky guess?"
His happy mood suddenly returns and he says, "Well, I got two copies. Just cause." He takes out one and hands it to me.
I smile and thank him. At least there's one that made me happy this morning.
I notice Isabelle's jealous demeanor as she says, "Simon, are you going to watch us cheer in the games?"
Simon and Alec look at both of us questionably. "Clary, are you still doing that?" Simon asks since Alec is currently incapable of making words come out of his mouth properly.
I sigh, "I kind of have to. Thanks to that one." I point to my gorgeous, brown-eyed friend.
She smiles, obviously proud of herself. "You know you love me."
It gets quiet for a moment. I stir my strawberry yogurt around its container. I'm still very annoyed with Jace's presence.
"So why did you choose to come to this school instead of any other?" Alec asks, trying to hide the fact that he's overjoyed.
"Um, my Uncle Will. He has a job here and is the my legal guardian." He tells us.
I don't pay much attention to him. Alec asks more questions, but I couldn't care less about Jace meaning I don't listen to their conversation.
The warning bell rings and we grab our things and head to first period. I have art first, so does Alec. Before we split up, Jace stops us to see if any of us share a class.
Luckily, I only have English and lunch with him. I don't have to associate with him a lot. But my lunch is going to be ruined from this day on.
I huff and grab Alec's arm, pulling him toward the art room. The aroma of paint and clay oddly excites me.
"Jeez, you left a mark on my arm." Alec complains when I let go of him. "Why are you in such a bad mood?"
I scowl at him and drop my bag to the ground. "You should know why."
"Jace? Clarebear, give him a chance! He came here to be normal, not to get more fame." He says.
"How do you know? We could be part of some undercover, reality show. 'The Secret Life of a New York High School Student'." I reply.
He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. "Okay, now you're being ridiculous. This is his first day and you're already accusing him of stupid things."
"Whatever. Let's just drop it. I need to finish my assignment today and I can't let something like this distract me." I take my seat and we barely talk for the rest of the period.
That's the first fight or argument I've ever had with Alec...
