Emma

There is a part of me yelling at myself. Telling me to go and move in. Not forget, but move on. Telling me that this is not who I am. That I am a leader, a fighter, a survivor. That I can make it through this. Telling me to stop this silly crying and do what I have to do. To be the leader that this camp expects me to be, that they need me to be. To get up and to be my own hero. The part of me saying that I don't need anyone to make me me. That I am not just a damsel in distress waiting for my prince to come. That Jason is just some stupid boy. That I am Greek. That I need to be there for my camp. That I need to put my feelings aside. That I need to go and fight the Romans. This part of me is small, but it is there. I realize that I have to go on with my life, that I'll have to let it all go. But there is something else there. There is hope. Hope that he will come back, that the fates made a mistake, or that maybe the council will just bring him back. That that can be my reward, not that stupid immortality they offered.

Flashback

I walked into our middle school auditorium. My friends and I have been coming back to our middle school for a while now. We would always visit our former chorus teacher, Mr. B, and then go to the auditorium and sing songs together. It was nerdy and all but it was fun and a good way to keep in touch. Today we were sing ABC by Jackson 5 and I was sooo excited because we had done a mashup of it, as well as I want you back, in 6th grade. I walked in the door and slid my bag off my shoulder and onto the third seat in the front row of stage left, which we had all referred to as our "play seats" since that is where we always sat during the play rehearsals we had through out the years, when we were in the school plays. The lights were out and suddenly spotlights were on all my friends and my boyfriend, Jase.

My friend, Cindy, who had black curly hair and was OBSESSED with Disney started singing. The familiar soprano tune:

You went to school to learn girl

Things you never, never knew before

Now my friend, Heather took over, and started to sing the next part. She walked towards me as she sang in and motioned for me to sit on a chair, that they had placed on stage. Oh gods! What were they going to do!?

Like "I" before "E" except after "C"

And why 2 plus 2 makes 4

Now Jase took over. His beautiful voice registered well as he walked towards me and took my hand i got out of the seat as he lead me hand in hand towards some of my others friends in stage, while still singing.

Now, now, now

I'm gonna teach you

Teach you, teach you

All about love girl

All about love

Next, Ciny's boyfriend, Eugiene, who looked like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, pulled the chair over to her as she sat down. Me and Heather laughed. We had SO called that one.

Sit yourself down, take a seat

All you gotta do is repeat after me

Now everyone joined in, as we all clapped our hands to the beat
