You Promised Forever

Chapter 14

Cindy (for those of you who forgot, Cindy is one of Emma's mortal friends (as well as Jase's))

I was currently in Florida and I was getting ready to leave. I sat in my hotel room. My clothes were already folded and on my bed and now all I had to do was put them neatly in my suitcase, which I had placed beside my clothes on the bed.

I heard my phone vibrating and quickly reached to go get it. I usually wouldn't answer my phone on vacation because it was family time and I was usually in Disney which I loved, but since I was packing I saw no harm in answering it.

I noticed it was Heather (another mortal friend who was in a flashback in a previous chapter, as well) and unlocked my phone so I could answer it.

"Hello!" I said cheerfully.

"Cindy..." Heather said. Her voice was weary and I could tell she was crying, which immediately set me on edge. Heather never cries. Never.

"What's wrong?" I asked concerned, "is everything okay?"

"It's Emma and Jason" she said her voice cracking.

"Oh my god! Did they break up!? They were so perfect for each other"- I would've continued but Heather cut me off

"No Cindy!" Heather said. She sound like she was about to start to break into hysterics any second. "There's been a car accident..."

"Is everyone okay!?!?" I asked worriedly. Though I already assumed

they weren't.

"No" heather said, "Jason...he...he didn't make it. He's gone, Cindy."

Now it was my turn to cry. I could already feel the tears beginning to stream down my face. Heather was crying as well. But it just felt so surreal. Like it was some sort if sick joke and I would see him and Emma when I got home. That's when I froze. Emma. I couldn't even imagine what she must be going through.

"What...what about Emma?" I asked, fearing the answer.

"I can't be a hundred percent sure. None of us have seen her yet, but I'd assume she's horrible. Cindy, she was in the car with him. She blames herself. We are all gonna go see her tomorrow I think. She'll need us. We'll all need each other. There isn't going to be a funeral but there will be a memorial on Saturday."

'Saturday' I thought, 'that's three days from now.'

"Actually" heather said, drawing me away from my thoughts, " I talked to her mother and I think Emma's planning on going and seeing Jase's family either tomorrow or the day after, so we'll have to find out which day she is going there and we will go visit her the other day."

"Alright," I said nodding my head, which was pointless because Heather couldn't even see me.

"My flight leaves tonight so I'll be home tomorrow to go with you guys if that's what you decide."

"Yeah," heather said, "and sorry to ruin your vacation"

"It just feels so surreal...ya know"

"I know but I gotta go. I'll see ya, Cindy"

"Arighty,' I said, "talk to ya later"

And with that, we hunt up the phone.

I dropped my phone on my bed and sat on the corner. I just couldn't believe he was gone. Suddenly I turned back to my suitcase and clothes.

'I better pack' I though, 'the

Sooner I get home the better'

Thought even as I packed I cried.

Finally my mother came in and noticed I was crying.

"What's wrong, Cind" she asked

"Jason and Emma got it into a car accident,"

"That's horrible!" She said cutting me off.

"That isn't the worst part." I said, " Jason..." I stopped and took a deep breathe before continuing, "Jason passed away"

My mother gasped! "Oh my god!" She said, wrapping her arms around me. There was something about saying the words aloud that made everything feel slightly more real, though it still felt surreal...like a dream.

I only wish I could wake up from this nightmare. Though I knew I never would.
