Chapter. 10
A L L Y
"Matt?" I asked, trying to act like I was surprised to see him here. Standing right in front of me. At McDonalds. No, I mean, it's not like Matt comes to this place all the time....note the sarcasm. Sighing, I rolled my eyes as I looked up at that stupid smirk still on his face.
"Hey, Ally," he said, nodding his head. "'Sup?"
"Oh you know, just eating...a burger," I muttered, picking up my Big Mac. "My life."
Matt raised an eyebrow for a second before he noticed Brian and Austin sitting at the table with me. When Matt saw my brother his face automatically lit up as well as Brian's.
"Holy shit, Brian, dude I barely even recognized you!" Matt beamed, grinning from ear to ear as my brother slid out of the booth. I watched blankly as they both did that stupid 'man hug' thing, and slumped in my seat. Brian ruffled Matt's hair.
"Same, bro!" Brian said, taking in Matt's appearence. "Jeez, is there something in the water over at Florida or something? I heard you guys moved there for a year or something, right?"
"Yeah, yeah," Matt shrugged, glancing over at me. "Our 'rents had to help out my mom's sister move in. Shit like that."
"Well, I bet you're doing pretty fucking good with the chicks now," Brian laughed. I grunted, and shoved my burger into my mouth.
Matt just laughed, shaking his head. When his eyes trailed over to Austin, recognition eventually filled his face as his eyes widened.
"Hey," he nodded. "You're Tristan Morrison's brother, aren't you?"
"Yeah, that's me," Austin smirked. "You guys played hockey together and shit."
Matt nodded, smiling at him. "Yup. Sorry, I didn't really recognize you until now, Austin."
"It's cool, man," he laughed, shrugging. "Anyways, I hear you're playing again this year! That's awesome, dude."
The three boys started talking amongst themselves -- mainly about hockey and shit. Me? Well, obviously the only choice I had was to continue eating. I don't think anybody could even understand how awkward I was feeling right now. Why does Matt have to be so fucking talkative and social? Can't he just shut up and go away? Sheesh.
But these fries are blessed, let me tell you.
"...kind of hard with my car being fucked up all the time and shit," Matt was saying, grabbing a chair from the next table and bringing it over here. He smirked teasingly at me before continuing. "It's a fucking piece of junk. It barely ever starts now, I literally have to torture the damn engine before I can get it going."
"Aw, that sucks. It's such a nice car too, man," Austin frowned, shaking his head. Brian nodded in agreement.
"So what are you going to do when hockey season starts, bud?" Brian asked. "I mean, you're fine with going to school and shit because it's not far, right?"
Matt nodded, and glanced over at me before sighing. "I don't know, Brian. My parents can't let me take their cars because obviously...you know, they need them for work. I don't think I could take the bus, because I have all my equipment."
"Hey, maybe Ally could drive you!" Brian exclaimed, his eyes sparkling in amusement as he winked at me. "She can drive! She has her license."
Matt raised his eyebrows, looking at me. I could see a mischievous glint in his eyes as he looked at me patiently, waiting for my answer. I currently had a bunch of food shoved in my mouth so I couldn't speak.
