24: Small Hearts

*Wendy's POV*

DAY 8

I sit down in a camping chair and stare at the smoldering fire. It's been a long week. But it's been fun! I'm still a little lenient about Juvia and Grays situation, but it's good to see that they're okay. When we got back to the camp from fishing, Mirajane, Laxus, Natsu, Lucy, Gray, and Juvia were scattered around, picking things up, and mumbling over different subjects. I'm so relieved that we are passed all of this drama. Juvia and Gray are doing fine, other than the mystery of Juvia's memory. But that's a problem to be dealt with later. For now, I just want to know what we're doing today! Yesterday was great, I learned so much about Romeo, he's such a great guy. Very gentle at heart but full of courage. I don't really want to think too much on Mira making us partners this entire time, but it's nice to hang out with someone the same age as me. We have a lot more to relate on, plus it's so much easier to talk to him. We have great team work too! During the physical activities a while ago, we were doing great! Romeo is so strong and had no problem picking me up. Our only downside was that I'm so clumsy that I fell over a lot. But he didn't even mind it. He's so nice.
"Wendy, stop staring off to space, they're giving instructions!" Carla snaps.
"Wha-!" I whips my head around to Erza, Mira, and the Master. They all looked quite tired. I wonder if they're okay. I frantically scramble over to the large plate of pancakes that Lucy got for me, and start eating.
"Morning all! I figured that you might want a little break from all of the craziness that's been going on lately, so I've got the most relaxing activity possible, that we can do outside. Yes, today my friends, you and your partner will be going on a walk. Just a walk. No survival tests, no hidden traps, no question requirements, nothing. Just you and your partner walking along a path in the woods. I have routes drawn out for each group so that no one will cross paths. The stretch of ground covers about two miles, you are welcome to stop and look at things, just make sure you're back here at around 4:00. Okay? Come over to me when your ready to leave, and I'll tell you which path you're taking." Mira says, a not-so-bright smile on her face.
A walk sounds fun, I love going walks. Back when I was a part of the Caitshelter Guild I'd take walks all the time. They were mostly by myself, but I'd have Carla with me as company, and to make sure I didn't get hurt. I wonder how it'll be with Romeo... He seems too energetic and spastic to be calm for that long. I guess I just have to wait and see.
"Pssst... Wendy! Are you gonna finish that?" Romeo whispers from across the table, eyeing up my pancake stack. I look at him suspiciously, a grin spread across my face.
"Do you want it?" I ask.
He grins and nods, sliding my place across the table in front of him. I choke back laughs because he's eating too fast, and getting syrup everywhere. He viciously cuts the pancakes into sections and angrily shoves them in his mouth, making me giggle. He stabs another piece, but it falls off his fork and onto the table. I put my hand up to my face to keep myself from laughing out loud. Romeo looks like he just watched the Titanic. He stares at the piece and frowns. Then stabs it again and downs it. I scoff a decently loud laugh from behind my clenched hands.
Carla turns her head a little, glaring at me. We both are quiet..... Until Romeo tries to fit an entire pancake in his mouth and snorts in laughter, his cup of orange juice spills, he elbows his plate off the table and into his lap, and his face is overflowing with mushed pancake. I explode in laughter and can't stop. Romeo is laughing so hard everything is falling out of his mouth and he's a mess. He slams his hand on the table repeatedly, and my sides start to hurt. Everyone in the surround tables are staring at us, and some of them are giggling along, others smirking. Some look very angry, *cough* Carla *cough*.
We catch our breath and settle down. I take some napkins from Lisanna and help Romeo clean up his natural disaster.
"So what was so funny?" Natsu says.
"Yeah Wendy, care to explain?" Happy echoes.
I muffle the smile on my face and nervously look around at everyone staring.
"N-nothing, Romeo and I were just having a little fun... That's all." I say, my face getting warm.
"She loooves himm." Happy sings.
Natsu slants his eyes in suspicion and chomps down on a muffin, completely ignoring Happy. He looks from me to Romeo then back to me. I hold my breath. Romeo makes a confused face at me and I shake my head. I glance back to Natsu and he's smirking.
"Have fun on your guys's walk today okay?" He says, looking directly at Romeo.
I smile a little.
"Okay!" I chirp.
"5 points Rowendy... Ehem!! Okay! If you and Romeo are ready, I can send you on your way!" Mirajane giggles.
"Are you ready to go?" I look back over to Romeo. He had a wet wash cloth and was washing off his face and hands.
"Yeah, gimme a sec, I've got to change, my clothes are all sticky. I'll be right back!" He says, already jogging to the tent left of mine.
"I'll be here!" I say.
"It's a fine day for a walk isn't it?" Carla says from beside me.
I take a deep breath in, the air gives me a small rush of adrenaline. It is a beautiful day, much nicer than yesterday. It's warmer, so the ground has dried out, and the clouds aren't dark at all. So no rain!
I have my blue, black and white Converse on with black skinny jeans, and a cream colored sweatshirt on. Plus my in pigtails and my bangs pulled back with a black bow. I look pretty great today. I'm so happy to have Mirajane, Lisanna, Levy, Cana, Lucy, and Erza all there to help me out with stuff like this. Carla too! They've all been there to support me and guide me. Without them, I'd be lost.
"Shrimp! Lets get a move on!! Lilly get it into high gear! I'll leave without ya!" Gajeel shouts from beside Mira, he already got his route. His right hand is still bandaged from the arm wrestling tournament, and he said he didn't need my help, and that he just wanted to heal on his own. I don't have a problem with that. He can do what he pleases. Besides, Gajeel can be kinda scary, so its better that I'm not near him for too long. Levy and Pantherlilly walk over to him, not rushing at all.
"Give it a rest Gajeel, this is supposed to be relaxing, not a sprint." Lilly says.
"Yeah, yeah whatever, lets just go." He mumbles, grabbing Levy's hand.
Aweeeee. They're so cute. Levy's face gets really red and she's quiet. Gajeel looks like a giant next to her. Plus his hand's about three times the size of hers. They are such opposites its hard to believe that they are together. Levy steps closer to him and they start walking off into the woods, the breeze gently swaying the trees, and the sun shining brightly.
"Hey Wendy! Lets go!" Romeo shouts while running from his tent. He had his scarf on, a dark blue t-shirt, brown shorts, and black boots. He looks charming.
"I'll get the route from Mirajane." Carla flies off.
Romeo catches up to me and puts his hands on his hips.
"So are you excited?" He asks me, his eyes shining.
"You bet!" I answer back.
"I heard that there are a bunch of RedWood trees along some of the paths. I hope we get to see them!" He says.
"Me too, I've never seen a RedWood tree up close before. All I know is that they're HUGE!!" I say, spreading my arms out.
"Wendy, Romeo c'mon! We can go now!" Carla calls.
We both look at each other and smile. Carla leads us to an area a whiles past the pond that branches out into a bunch of paths. We veer to the path on the far right and begin our journey. We walk in silence for a while, Carla flying a large distance above us, keeping an eye out. We just walk next to each other, enjoying each others company, but I can tell that we're just frantically trying to find something to say.
I watch as he veers over to the side of the path and bends down to the ground. I peer over his shoulder and he stands back up, a clump of flowers clenched in his hand. He turns around to face me, and I take a small step backwards. He moves his hand out towards me and looks anywhere but at me. He puts his other had up to the back of his head and flickers his gaze on me.
"H-here. I thought you might like these. They're really pretty, and they reminded me of you... Them being blue and all...-not that you're blue, you're hair is blue- and I think that's its pretty, like the flowers... Uh... Here." He mumbles, handing them to me. His cheeks are red and he brakes his gaze.
I smile a little, gently taking the flowers from him, he folds his arms behind his back and looks down.
"Thank you." I say.
I put one behind my ear, another on the bow in my hair. And the last one...
"Hey..." I say to Romeo. He looks back at me, his face still red. I lean forwards, pull back his unruly hair, and slide the stem of the flower onto the top of his ear.
"There, now we can be matching." I say softly.
He makes eye contact and smiles.
"Looks better on you though." He says. I laugh a little and we keep walking for a while. We come to a large valley in the path, with a stream running underneath through a tunnel. There are huge drop-offs on either sides of the path that have beautiful trees and rocks. We sit and look at it for a while, taking it all in. It's mesmerizingly beautiful. We can hear the birds singing, and the rush of the water as our feet dangle from the edge. It's peaceful. But I can't help but wonder if we should be taking about something. Finally Romeo clears his throat.
"So what do you want to do?" He asks.
"I don't know. What do people normally do on walks?" I ask. Expecting an obvious answer.
Romeo grins.
"I'm not sure, but I guess they... I don't know... Walk?" He laughs.
I laugh with him.
"I believe so, but it's debatable. They could also do other activities as well." I say, going into my obvious, just-messing-around-and-having-a-good-time-sarcasm-voice.
Romeo puts his hands above his head an continues walking, just like Natsu does.
"What other activities might they do?" He asks, smiling.
I look down and kick an on coming rock, sending it tumbling a few feet in front of me.
"Well... They could kick rocks, and sing songs? Maybe climb trees, or watch birds?" I suggest.
He nods, his face saying that he's thinking.
"True, true. We could also play games like, I Spy, 20 Questions, Akinator, or, Would You Rather?" He says.
"Akinator? What's that?" I ask.
He takes his hands off of the back of his head and slides them into his pockets.
"You've never heard of Akinator?" He asks, obviously excited.
I shake my head.
He takes a deep breath and takes his hands out of his pockets.
"Okay, so it's a mental game, kind of like Guess Who and 20 Questions. You think of a character and, the opposite person playing asks you questions trying to guess. You can only answer Yes, No, Probably, and Probably Not. You cannot change the person halfway through the game, and you can't lie. Plus its gotta be the first person that enters your mind. The goal is to see how many people you can get. The first person to ten wins. And dependent on the person you're playing with, the game can go pretty quick, or take forever. Plus it also helps to improve memory." He says.
"That sounds like fun! Would you mind if I went first?" I ask.
He shakes his head.
"Not at all. Ladies first" He says, smiling.
So polite!
I rack my brain thinking of someone he would know, and would most likely guess. But not someone too obvious.
Got it!
"Okay I'm ready." I say.
He nods and thinks of a question.
"Is this person a member of Fairy Tail?"
I shake my head.
"No."
"Is this person a boy?" He asks.
"No."
"Is this girl a teenager?"
"Yes."
"Was she in the Grand Magic Games?" He raises an eyebrow.
"No." I say, smirking.
He furrows his brows together.
"Hmm.... Is she a wizard?" He asks.
"Yes."
"Does she know me?" He asks.

Ummmm.... I'm not sure...
She doesn't know him personally, but she's probably heard of him.
"Probably."
"Oh! Is she apart of a Guild we know?"
"Yes."
"An independent Guild?"
Darnet, he's got it.
"Yes."
"Does he have pink hair?"
I sigh.
"Yes."
"I think of.... Mer-Mee..M-Meldy? Meredy?" He looks at me, unsure.
"Corret." I say smiling.
"Yeahaha!!! My turn!!"
He squints his eyes a little before opening them wide and glancing around. He pus his hands in his pockets and sighs.
"Okay, I got one." He says kinda quietly.
I watch as he adjusts the flower on his ear, his face pink.
Aweeee he's so cute.
I clear my throat, flipping my pigtails off my shoulders.
"Is this person in Fairy Tail?" I ask.
"Yes." He says quietly.
Oooohhhhh
"Is this person a guy?"
"No."
OOOOHHHH
"Is she an S-Class wizard?"
"No."
"Is she younger than 20?"
"Yes."
"Does she have long hair?"
"Yes."
"Is the hair blue?"
He looks down.
"Yeah."
Interesting...
"Does she know Gray?"
He looks back up.
"Yes." He says in a 'that was a dumb question' tone. But his eyes are bright and cheerful, so I know he doesn't mean it.
"I think of Juvia." I say.
He shuts his eyes and takes a deep breath, tilting his head towards the sky.
"No." He says.
Really?
"So what happens now? I got it wrong." I say.
He puts his hands back up the the back of his head.
"You just keep guessing... But there aren't a whole lot of people that fit that description." He mumbles.
"Okay, umm... I think of Levy."
"Nope."
"Kinana?" I say.
"Her hair is purple." He says, laughing a little. But his body launguage says he's hiding something.
"Then who else cloud it be? Isn't it against the rules to choose the other perrrr...."
"I never said that was against the rules." He says, smirking.
I fan my fingers through one of my pigtails.
"I-I think of.... I-I...." I start.
Romeo steps forewarn and I feel his hand slip into mine as we walk.
"I... Think of you.." He says squeezing my hand.
I squeeze back.
I'm okay with this.
I'm okay with him.
This is amazing.
I don't know what to do.
Oh my gosh!!!! AHHHHH!!!
Okay. Okay. Calm down.
We continue walking in silence, swinging our arms back and forth. Squeezing each others hands and enjoying our mutual understanding.

We walk for another half an hour and find ourselves back at the intersections with all of the paths.
Mirajane stands beside Laxus and they are talking quietly. I give Romeo a final squeeze before letting go of his hand. Mira turns around to look at us and claps her hands together.
"So how was it?" She asks, excitedly.
I look at Romeo and he looks at me.
"Amazing." We say in unison.
