I take a left down the familiar street i grew up on where the grass is overgrown and the houses still victorian. Sighing i pull into the pale blue house where the door is slightly off it's hinges. I pull in park. I regret leaving this house. I think as i open the car door grabbing my leather purse. I saunter up to the front door opening it. I jump at the sound of the door creaking from the weight of my hand. Silence stretches along the house leaving me and my muddled thoughts. The familiar buzz is gone and all is left is memories of what used to be.  I set my purse on the old taped up couch my grandma gave to my mum when she was fresh out of school.  Sighing i seat myself hanging my head  in my calloused hands. "Guess it's time to go for a little joyride around my hometown". I mutter to the empty house that i grew up in. Moving my way along the creaky floors to the door i once was in such a hurry to get out once upon a time. I'm twenty-two now and i can barley take care of myself. God where did i go wrong? Of course the house can't read my mind. This is insane! I yank open the door hugging my jacket tighter to my petite body.  Mmmm outside. I run my fingers against the roughness of the shrubbery.   Living here used to irritate me now it seems.... Familiar. I walk down the porch. Theres barley anyone on the street but a few cars. Miles stretch ahead of me. The roads i used to walk everyday after school dying to get out of the old victorian house i called home once upon a time ago. A few cars pass by me the neighborhood is silent all but a the rumbles of a few cars as the pass every mile or so. My heart throbs at the reason why i am in the state i swore i would never come back to. The dreadful state of Texas where the grass is overgrown and the people know everything about everyone. Speaking of which here walks Mrs. Daniels, my moms best friend since they were growing up. "Hey! Haven't seen you round here lately" i nod "Yeah well mom ran off and were pff to find her ya know?" I kick at the gravel. "Well aren't you just a sweetie" she pinches my cheek just like she did when i was in first grade and she was so proud at me for winning the singing competition. "Yeah well if i don't do it who will? Pops dead and all the rest of the family is scattered around the U.S." She nods thoughtfully. "Well good luck on that long trek of yours" i tip my head towards her. "Good day ma'am" she smiles and tips her tan cowboy hat that has a braid along the edges and some beads along the braid. "You too dear" then she walks off leaving me to take care of the dreadful trek to town to get clues from the local police station.
