After the normal training the princes were returning back to the ashram. Just then they spotted a dog with its mouth full of arrows. The arrows were shot so cleverly that the dog was not harmed a bit also. Guruji was surprised and asked that great person to come in front of him. Just then a young man appeared before him and bowed down to guruji. When guruji asked who his was he replied,"I'm your student guruji." But guruji told that he never taught him anything then how did he become my student. The young man replied, "guruji, I'm ekalavya. Once I had come to you for learning archery. But you had sent me away because I was not a Kshatriya. But I didn't give up. I secretly hid and learnt when you were teaching these princes. I also make a model of you which I would worship everyday." Guruji was astonished. He then told ekalavya,"ok! If at all I am your guruji you should give me gurudakshina(it is an offering to your guru. Whatever they ask you must give without hesitation.). Ekalavya happily accepted and asked guruji what he wants. Guruji with hesitation asked ekalavya for his right thumb.(this was because he feared where ekalavya would become a greater Archer than Arjun.) Ekalavya very depressed but still happily agreed and cut of his right thumb and offered it to guruji.
All the princes stood staring at them, in a state of shock!
