MaryAnn
I couldn’t stay. I had to go back home even if it meant risking my life swimming out of the ocean. It was a painful swim, my whole body was still sore from the burns and cuts. I should have told him I had to go back, but I knew he wouldn’t let me so the only thing was so I could sneak out. My favorite dress was falling apart and the only thing that’s keeping it up is my hand holding it from the top.
I opened the door to my house and I was greeted with a huge slap in the face. I didn’t flinch this time though I just stood there and stared at my mother while she stared back. I shut the door and walked into the kitchen and got some blood. My mother and father just watched me. I could already tell they disapproved of how I was looking right now. My hair was all wet and sticking to my face and my dress was half gone.
“You let a mermaid come into the party?” My father was as calm as he could be.
“Yup,” was all I said.
“How could you?” my father’s eyes were full of betrayal and I couldn’t look at him.
“I don’t know. He’s my friend.” I smashed the can and got another one. I was super hungry.
“Leave that food alone. You have no right just walking into this house like nothing happened. Because of you Brett is dead,” my mother spoke through her teeth.
“Ha, good. That idiot deserves it momma.” I drained the can and threw it in the trash.
“He has done nothing but give you love MaryAnn!” Daddy grabbed my arm.
“Love? Love?! He smacked me across the face and then burned half of my body! I still have some of the burns too! He wanted nothing to do with me except do me until there was no tomorrow! So don’t tell me that’s love because it’s not!” I snatched my arm away.
“You know nothing. You’re just a dumb child,” My mother looked at me and started to get that angry look.
“I stopped aging when I was twenty one mother. I am no child anymore. I have lived two hundred and never have I been hurt by a man like that ever! If it wasn’t for Kileleon I would be dead!” my eyes were starting to fill up with tears of anger. How dare she talk to me like this? I should have left this house a hundred years back. My mother knows nothing and my father just takes her side.
“Is that who you spent the night with?” My mother waited for my answer but I said nothing. “You little slut!” then another slap but this time I slapped her back.
“Don’t ever touch me like that again! I don’t care if Brett is dead, I don’t care if Prince Kileleon is a mermaid, I don’t care about you, I don’t care about this family, I don’t give a rats ass about anything! And if you’re just going to treat me like a pet dog then I’m leaving now,” My mom and I stared down each other then my dad spoke.
“Good. Because you get out of this house right now. You have shamed this family and all vampires. Don’t even think of coming back until you learn some manners and how to be a lady again. What happened to my sweet pumpkin? Since when did she grow up on me?” my daddy started tearing up but he was too much of a “man” to let the tears out.
