MaryAnn

One Month Later

Living underwater was very unusual for me. I always made jokes to myself about growing a tail fin because of how much time I was spending here. It was really hard though to be around people when they’re hearts were still beating so loud. The king always ordered blood for me and I never got hungry. It was all ate anyway, I could eat food but it wasn’t as good as the blood was. Kileleon’s father always flinched when he saw me drinking it but he said nothing. Kileleon’s mother loved me, she would always talk to me and we would have our girl talks. Sometimes I would do her hair and she would do my make-up. We really bonded, and during that time I had found out she had become immortal when she was twenty nine. She was originally almost a thousand years old. Kileleon’s father had learned to deal with me but he still didn’t trust me, but I didn’t trust him either.

I became great friends with all the servants and I usually spend my time in the kitchen because I learned that cooking was actually something I enjoyed. I was really good at it too. Kileleon always made me cook for him and I was always happy to do it. I had met Kileleon’s brothers who are huge idiots and always check me out. I had met a lot of Kileleon’s family and it seemed like I had become one of them. I first thought that they would reject me because I was some red eyed bloodsucking vampire. They made me feel very welcomed even though some always gave me cold looks.

I was given a room that was two down from Kileleon’s and never in my life did I feel like a princess. The room was almost half the size of the mansion I used to live in. Windows surrounded the room, which I never opened because I could breathe underwater like mermaids for a long time. Gold mermaids were painted onto the walls with welcoming faces. Little fishes were hidden all around the wall and it seemed like they were always moving around. Must be the magic that surrounds the castle. What I like the most though is the king sized bed that makes me sleep like a lion. It was too big for me but I didn’t care because it was all mine and it was too soft to reject.

Everything was great except for one thing, I was to dress and present myself like a princess. I always had to wear dresses, whether they were long, poofy, hot, short, suffocating, or comfortable I was to wear them at all times. The only time I got to wear my own clothes was when I went out for a swim, to the beach, or when I slept.

“Miss MaryAnn it’s time to get ready,” Aqua, a servant, came into my room. I tucked my diary under my pillow and stood up.

“Why does the king have to make me do this? I’m just a vampire.” Today was Kileleon’s birthday and we were having a huge ball for him. He had to choose an escort and his father wanted him to choose a girl named Carina. A really skinny girl who was the drama queen of all mermaids. Instead he chose me and now he made me go through all these dress fitting, make-up and hair tests, and I wasn’t allowed to see him for the whole week until today.

“The prince chose you MaryAnn I am sorry. Your dress came in today and it looks beautiful. It came just how you designed it, but first we have to do your hair and make-up.” That’s what we spent doing for the next three hours. I’ve never had my butt so numb in my whole life.
