Ayato is depressed since our niece killed herself and Shu maybe lazy, but was really upset about killing herself. She tried, but with her childhood messed up, she probably couldn't take it anymore.
We couldn't find Ayato only to find him on the ground, with a knife in his chest, exactly in his heart.
They are both dead.
Well it's kinda his fault anyway, but he didn't realize is that she cared for him.
