"Open your eyes.." I heard an eerie haunting voice coo. Heavy lids flickered, and as my vision began to clear up, I then realized I was still underneath the surface of the water. Startled, I gaged releasing a fury of air bubbles as I grabbed my throat expecting to drown. To my surprise, nothing was happening. Confused checked my hands, my head, and my face- everything was normal. Confused I looked around at the murky water. "How long was I out?" I blurted with not much thought. A salty taste lingered on my tongue which made me gag and choke. "Ugh, what is that-" I paused the moment a tall slender figure swam up to me. By his build, and lack of torso bumps I figured he was male and frowned. He didn't speak, but placed a hand on his lips- and placed the same hand onto mine making me blush.
" You are either a fool, or very stupid.." I heard someone's voice ring in my head- it was Dumbeldore.
"You would rather die with our secret, than be banished away from our waters.." Came the haunting lyrics. "Why..?"
I prompted, " I just don't break promises."
With that they swam away with a silent understanding. Breaking the surface gasped for air to find Draco swimming upto me. It was Professor Snape who awaited my arrival and not Maxime which made me frown in confusion.
The short outcry made me zoom my focus onto Fleur, Gabby hadn't returned. And by the looks of it neither did Harry, nor Ron.
"C'mon Izzy," Draco called out.
When I opened my mouth to speak he clapped his hands over his ears, and so did those within hearing range.
"I have to go back!" I cried out, but Draco didn't seem to understand. shrugging it off dove down with a graceful ease that surprised even me.
Within moments two bodies floated past me, "Ron! Gabby!" I called out. They still seemed to be under the sleeping spell. My eyes soon darted to an area below us to catch the high pitch sounds of the little tiki gremlins again. "HARRY!!"Within a blink of an eye Harry shot passed me, and attempted to grab my hand in the process. I slipped the moment we broke the glassy surface and fell back down with a splash. It was then I began feeling a burning sensation and began to itch.
"Drake!!" I called out.Professor Snape was the first to react, and conjured a make shift pulley. "Draco!" He tossed the boy some rope.
"Here, grab this!" Draco wrapped his arm at the base of my waste and tugged the rope to which Severus pulled.
I nodded and hung on, my long hair matted against the top of my shoulders. "It burns.." I heaved quietly.
"Professor, what's wrong with her?" I could hear Draco say. And when the man didn't respond, I knew then something most probably went wrong.
As we both sat atop the plank of wood, we were both wheeled up. I almost let out a scream as I found my legs replaced by a black fish tail.
"Shh..shh" Draco cradled my head, and placed his palm against the back of my cranium as I hid my face against his shoulder.
I was terrified.. What have I done! I began to cry, and as we were helped onto the platform, Professor Snape threw his cloak over me and instructed Draco to stay by my side. Luckily for us, everyone yet again was distracted by the results to care too much about what was going on behind them.
"Draco..it burns.." I said again.
"What does..?" He finally answered-much to my relief. As he moved his hand to the small of my back for better support, I cried out louder than I wanted to. "Ah!" He yelped in fear, " I'm sorry! I'm sorry.." He said quietly.
Headmaster Karkaroff cut through the crowd angrily as the winners were announced leaving Viktor in last place.
He nearly tripped over my tail, and stepped on the fin making me yelp.
