Chapter Two:

My sophomore year was very different. Though my freshman year was actually a great start for me to make my mark in this school, sophomore year actually started out quite sad. Why? Well, it’s a little hard to explain, but sure. I’ll give it a shot. Uh.. Do you guys remember who Skylerk Carston is? My cousin/ultimate best friend? Yup. Well, do you remember when I told you that he was dating this Hollywood girl, Blake? Okay. That's good. Because you see, Skylerk and Blake...they broke up. The summer prior to that school year. And what's worse is that it wasn’t your typical “it’s not you, it’s me,” kind of break up, no. It’s the, “I’m sorry but I have fallen for your brother,” kind. Yes. Blake fell in love with Sky’s older brother, Landon, with whom she recently had made a film with. See? I told you it was complicated. So to cut the disheartening long story short, Skylerk rebelled, did some really stupid things and one of his stupid actions led him to get another girl pregnant. This made him fly back to Los Angeles so he could take care of it. (Listen, Sed—short for Skylerk Eliakim Daevid—was also assigned to write here, so you’ll know more about it from him.)

But moving on… I guess I had a really fun summer. Despite all the Carston drama that happened. My summer was filled with undefined mysteries and memories that I can never shake. And of course there was never a moment wherein I did not think of Samantha. I can even give you a whole book right now filled with songs that were specially written for her. That was how I missed her. As weird as it may sound, I was actually counting the days until school starts again.

Eventually, the longest days of my life passed by like a cool summer breeze. Because before we could even comprehend it, we were already waking up to our first day of school. The walls were crowded that day and I was literally tipping my toes to see where Samantha was.

As you know, every school year starts out with a general assembly inside the auditorium. So when the school bell rang, I sighed in slight grief because I didn’t get the chance to even see her. I made my way into the auditorium and just sat with Mark. At this point, I was still moving my eyes around, hoping that I could get a glimpse of her. But I still didn’t and it was getting a little frustrating.

“I guess it’s just you and me now, huh man?” Mark said, as he fixed his tie.

“Yeah.. I guess so.” and it was sad. Three of our best friends were in the states, one is in Australia, and the other one, PJ, was in different school in the Philippines.

“So anyway, you looking for her?”

“What was that?” I blinked,

“Sam? You looking for her?”

“Oh..yeah! Have you seen her?”

“Dude,” Mark laughed “you do know that she’s the student council president, right?”

“Huh?”

“Seriously? Where were you during the past year? Samantha’s the school president. Meaning, Sam would not be around here because she is back there behind those curtains getting ready for her welcoming speech.”

“Oh, I knew that, man,”

Okay.. So I totally forgot about that. Wait.. How could I even forget about that? How could I forget the moments wherein I’d see her campaigning in class, with all of those words of wisdom coming out of her mouth? How could I forget those nights wherein I’d see her all stressed out and still think how beautiful she looked? How could I forget that one conversation I had with her when she sat next to me saying how the school needs a huge pep talk?! Oh, man....

I started preparing myself to what was about to come. After the opening prayer, the national anthem was sung, and then the band started playing, when they finished, the school principal came to give some astonishing remarks, and then, it was Samantha's turn. And wow.. I've have never seen her so perfect. Her golden blonde, straight hair that was hanging loosely over her shoulders, her face that was amazingly glowing before us, (well thanks to the spot light) and her smile made me smile...god...how I love the way she smiles. My whole world froze when she walked out of that door and towards the pulpit. I could feel my heart jumping inside my chest. Mark, I think, noticed that I was running out of breath so he decided to call my attention.
