Chapter Three:
“Clayton!” Right around the corridors, Samantha came in, flashing her beautiful smile as she called my name.
During that time, my first period had just ended. So, I looked at her, basically caught in the moment and answered ,
“Yo?”, it was, again, as swag as it will ever get. And I could swear I even heard her chuckle. She looked beautiful that day. Flawless and beautiful! It’s official now, my favorite word when it comes to describing her, was beautiful. B-E-A-U-tiful.
“So, listen,” Sam began to say, “I have this project wherein I have to spend time with a lower batch, because, you know, I’m graduating and stuff.”
“Uhm, okay?”
“Yeah.. And since I don’t really know anyone else.. Well, at least not someone I'd want to spend more time with, I was wondering if I could maybe spend time with, you know—”
“Me?” I began to smile,
“No. Mark.”
“Oh.. Mark. Alright. Okay, I’ll go tell him then.” My world crashed.
“I was kidding! Duh! Of course I meant you!” She was so adorable. Her face was still glowing. Despite the fact that she had just gone out of her trigonometry class. (I mean, who takes that at eight in the morning?) Samantha smiled at me and I wanted to cry tears of joy. I knew that this thing means that I get to spend more time with her. More time with Samantha David! And I could not really ask for anything else!
I walked Sam to her next class and discussed more about what was going to happen within the next couple of days. And each and every word she said got me a little more excited. I was thrilled! Was this for real?! Is this actually happening?! Someone pinch me! Right now!! That day, I seriously wanted to do a silly skip. Weird, I know. But I was happy.
After school, Sam and I talked a little bit more about the details of her project. We talked about the time, schedules, activities, and events that we could get together and hang. Then we found out that both of our families were planning to stay in London for Christmas, so then I asked with such bravery,
“Why not meet up there as well? It will make everything so much easier for us, I mean you.” I said feeling so embarrassed. But just as I was about to burry myself six feet under the ground, I suddenly started to feel how everything began to fade away as I realized how Samantha seemed like she didn't notice anything wrong. And a few seconds later—after she thought about it though—she said, “Sure.” Huh..
Now, due to her ‘project’ our friendship went to a higher level. We’d hang out a lot. Especially on the weekends, she’d watch me play basketball on the weekdays and I’d watch her do her student council stuffs in return. She would go to my church, and I’d go to hers. We’d even talk on the phone every night. And there was even this one time wherein she asked me the color that I would be wearing the next day,
“Uh…Green?” I said,
“Why green?”
“Because it was my favorite color.”
And then the next day I saw her walking around in school, wearing a green colored shirt as well, and that surprised me...a lot!
“Surprise!” She shouted,
“Oh, you.” I sneered.
She laughed and went under my arm and we ate ice cream together. It was the first time that I was actually feeling something true, something good. Something....real. And it was our first official date too—not as a couple—but I still enjoyed every single moment of it.
