Chapter 3 - To Be Partners You Have To Be Friends

"You know what. I think Mr. Smith hates me. I think that's why he made me be with Levi. He wants me to suffer!" Emily exclaimed as we walked to Starbucks . Emily gave me her money and made me buy her a coffee. She just wanted to sit down.

I sat down in the seat across from her and gave Emily her coffee. "Look I know working with Levi is going to suck but you might as well try to get along. For the sake of your grades and who knows, maybe you'll fall in loooove!" I smiled, smirking at the end.

"Okay first of all. Ew. Why would I fall for someone like him?! And secondly, I'd try getting along but good luck trying to get Mr. Grumpy Pants to agree." Emily retorted rolling her eyes taking a long sip of coffee.

"If I can get Levi to agree to coming over to the apartment will you be nice and try to get to know each other better?" I asked, pulling out my phone and opening messages.

"Like I said before. I'd try getting along but I dunno about Levi. Friendliness doesn't seem like something he knows." Emily answered, resting her head on her arms. "Kayla? Are you even listening to me?!" 

"Huh? Sorry I was texting Ryuzaki about you and Levi. OH! He just answered! He said Levi agreed! You guys are hanging out at the apartment on Saturday or I guess tomorrow, around one." I explained happily. "We should go, I don't want to be late for Law Enforcement."

I had been awake since 9:26am waiting for Emily to wake up so her and Levi could hangout. Once she woke up she got ready and laid on the couch. I was waiting sitting on the floor staring at the door. It's 12:59 where are th- YAY! Someone knocked on the door. "Ryuzaki! Levi!" I squealed, opening the door for them to come inside. "Emily. Levi. We're going out for the day. Be. Nice." I said as Ryuzaki and I left.

"Hey Kayla, do you have any ideas of what we could do today?" Ryuzaki asked, as we walked out of the building. "Not really. Just figured we would go to the bakery and get cake. Did you want to do anything special?" I smiled at him. "No, thats perfect! Lets go." 

Ryuzaki's POV

"Were here!" I smiled at Kayla as I opened the door letting her go in first. "Thanks!" Kayla said smiling at me. I hope this goes well... "You find a seat I'll get our food." I said walking away to the counter. "Hello sir, what can I get for you today?" The cashier asked "Two strawberry cakes and two teas please." I asked. "Is that all?" The cashier asked starting to make the tea. "Can you make the icing on the cake say something for me please?..." I asked a bit nervous. "Sure! What would you like it to say?" The cashier asked bringing out a piece of paper and a pen. 

~Ryuzaki says what to write down~

"Okay here is your food, enjoy!" The cashier says smiling. "Thanks." I said walking to the table Kayla was at.

Kayla's POV

I wonder how Emily and Levi are doing? "Hey Kayla, I got the food." Ryuzaki said giving a small nervous smile. Is he okay? "Hey Ryuzaki! Thanks for getting to food." I smiled at him. "K-Kayla, can I ask you something?" He asked nervously sitting down. "Of course, you can ask me anything."  Should I be scared?  "Well I know that we have only been friends for a short time but..." He stopped staring at the ground. OMG WHAT IS HE DOING?!?!? Ryuzaki placed a huge strawberry cake on the table and turned it to face me. The cake had writing on it and is said "Will you be my girlfriend?" "OH MY GOSH RYUZAKI... YES!" I screamed standing up and pulled him into a tight hug. I felt tears going down my face. "R-really?!" Ryuzaki asked sounding a bit shocked. "Of course!" I said looking into his eyes and smiling. 

~Time skip to after we ate~

"That was the best cake EVERRRRR!" I said smiling at Ryuzaki. "It was even better because you were here with me." He said blushing a bit. "Hey Ryuzaki wanna see a movie it is only 2:30 so we have time before we have to go back home?" I asked looking into his eyes. "Sure what movie do you want to see?" He asked smiling at me. "Hmm lets see. OH! How about The Note Book?" I said as I put my phone on the table to show him the movie. "It starts at 2:55. I think we can make it." Ryuzaki said looking at my phone. "Okie, lets go!" I said basically dragging him to the movies.

~Time skip at the movie~

We were in the very top row beside the wall, so no one would see us. I cuddled up to Ryuzaki as I watched the movie. About every 10 minutes he would look at me to make sure I was ok. The movie lasted about an hour and a half so it was around 4:25 when we left. "I guess we should head back the our apartments." I said sounding a bit sad. "I guess so." Ryuzaki said grabbing my hand as we began to walk. The walk was quiet, neither of us had talked much they was back. I guess we were sad to be leaving each other even though it would only be till Monday which was only two days away.

We approached the building, we went up the elevator and walked towards my apartment. "How do you think they got along?" I asked before opening the door. "It's quiet.. They probably started fighting didn't they?" I asked as I cautiously walked inside. "I hope not." Ryuzaki said grabbing my hand. "OMG LOOK AT THEM!" I said before running to the couch. "Are they cuddling?" Ryuzaki asked letting go of my hand. "Hmm they look awfully close for people who hated each other a few hours ago.." I said grabbing a pillow from the couch. I started to hit Emily with the pillow till finally she woke up. She jolted right up which caused Levi to wake due to her arms being around him. 

"Um care to explain whats going on here?" I asked crossing my arms, raising an eyebrow, dropping the pillow I was using to wake Emily. Emily looked at Levi who seem just as confused and embarrassed as her. "I- I don't know... I guess we just fell asleep or something..." Emily explained looking down. Sometimes Emily and I act like protective parents towards each other. 

"That doesn't explain why you were asleep on Levi." I stated smirking. "It's okay, you can say that you guys confessed your undying love for each other. I knew it was going to happen." I said still smirking.

"OkAY NO! We didn't confess our love for each other, we don't love each other." Emily stated, rolling her eyes. "We did what you said and asked each other questions to get to know each other. We also played Mario Kart; I won. And watched a movie."

"Okay, maybe you aren't in love, yet. But are you at least friends?" I asked, sighing as I sat down beside her on the couch. 

Emily looked at Levi who shrugged and nodded his head a little. "Uh yeah I guess.." Emily sighed, smiling a little.
