Chapter 7 - Under Arrest

"Hey, brat. Wake up, we're back at HQ." I heard Levi say to Emily, waking me up too. I looked over and saw Emily was resting her head on Levi's shoulder  and holding hands. Once we all got off the helicopter we went inside to where everyone else was. I walked into the room first and saw L sitting in front of his computer.

Perfect maybe I can sneak up on him. 

I walked towards L very quietly then rapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. 

"Did you miss me?!" I laughed. L turned around and hugged me. I froze for a minute then hugged him back. 

Did he just hug me before I hugged him?! He never does that unless I hug him first, he doesn't like to show his emotions.

"Did you get hurt?" L asked looking me in the eyes.

"No, I'm fine." I smiled.

"Are you sure they didn't hurt you?" L asked looking for any cuts. 

"Yes I'm okay." I laughed at how scared he was.

I turned around and saw Emily and Light walking out of the room holding hands. 

"Let's go back to my place so you can get some rest." L stated turning his computer off.  

 "Okay, but can we get food I'm starving?" I asked hugging his arm as we went to the elevator.

"Sure what would you like?" L questioned.

"ANYTHING!" I stated.

"Cake?" L asked as we walked towards the car.

"Okie!" I smiled skipping towards his car. 

We got some cake from the bakery I worked at, then we went back to his apartment and started watching Netflix. I ended up falling asleep watching Attack on Titan. About four hours later we heard a buzzing noise coming from L's computer. It was Levi he wanted us to come look at the cameras that were placed in our apartment. Emily and Light seemed to be doing something suspicious. We arrived there and it was 2:12am.

"This footage is quite odd.. what could they be doing that they wouldn't want the cameras to see?" L mumbled, not taking his eyes off Light and Emily. "Kayla, you've been spying on them a lot. Have they done anything even remotely suspicious? Anything that could link them to the Kira case."

"Well there was the time we went to the park.. First of all, Em was freaking out about something and she pointed at the air and Light whispered something, almost like he knew what she was pointing at. Then when we went to the park Light kept throwing the ball really far and they looked like they were talking about something really serious. And lastly before we left they started whispering something in each others ears, specifically so I couldn't hear. And was I the only one who found it suspicious that they were whispering something to each other earlier today? As much as I hate to admit it I think somethings going on.." I explained feeling guilty for suspecting my best friend as a possible Kira suspect.

"Okay, Kayla, when Emily isn't around I need you to go through her stuff, see if you can find anything. If you can take it without her noticing it's missing bring it here and we'll analyze it but if she'll notice it's gone just look at it while you're at home and tell us what you find" L stated still watching them intensely.

We all stayed at the HQ until they stopped doing whatever they were doing, it was around 5:30am.

~ A few days later ~

Emily and I decided to have a Disney movie night since we haven't spent time like this together for a while. 

"I'll be right back, I'm going to the bathroom." Emily stated sliding her phone in her pocket.
