A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. ~Charles Spurgeon

A/N: I talk about Brooklyn accents in the chapter, and I realized that not everyone might know what that sounds like. So there's a scene from My Cousin Vinny, I kind of imagined that Nala - the girl discussed with the accent below - would sound like Mona Lisa (yes that's her actual name) and who is the women in this scene with the Brooklyn accent. Also this is a really good movie, it's pretty funny. You don't have to watch this of course, I just thought it might help you understand the whole thing.

Luke's POV

I was incredibly nervous for the time to come, the next day, I was walking up to the school, and could see Chyanne standing with Nala up at the door. They each waved to us and we walked up to them.

"Hey Luke, Kipp!" Nala said cheerfully, she was just as popular as Chyanne and I think it had something to do with the fact that everyone adored the way she spoke. She was straight out of Brooklyn and did she ever fit the bill. Every word that split from her lips screamed of her home back in New York. Apparently her whole family sounded the way she did, making them a bit of a rarity here.

"Kipp what happened to you?" Chyanne gasped as she put her hand on Kipp's face and turned it.

"Ashton's stupid bunch of friends happened, that's what." Kipp scoffed.

"Are you alright?" Nala asked, a sad look on her face. "Those stupid boys."

"Who-Who were those people anyways?" I asked. "What did we ever do to them?"

"When we started our first year here, Ashton and his posse took control right quick." Nala began to explain. "Of course, I found it hard to believe that there was a small group of kids that could do this, but they did. Ashton just gets to sit back and laugh while the rest of his minions cause mayhem. Miserable bastard, if you ask me."

"I honestly expected that they would bother you." Chyanne admitted. "After all, Luna would never take lightly to you."

"What did I ever do to her?" I scoffed.

"I don't know." Chyanne shook her head slowly. "But something told me she would never favor you."

"What about the rest of them? What did I do to them?" I huffed.

"You made yourself an easy target." Nala shrugged. "Come on, I'm sure that Malcom is waiting inside at his locker for us." Nala stood up from where she was sitting on the railing of the stairs and we walked inside the school.

I got as many looks today as I got yesterday, the dark blue dress I was wearing probably wasn't very flattering in a lot of people's eyes, I tried my hardest though. I wore makeup, a thin coat of eyeliner, curled mascaraed eyelashes. I let out a sigh though, I knew a lot of people would act this way.

Nala put her hand on my chest to stop me as we looked down the hallway and could see the group of delinquents. Torn black skinnies and ripped band shirts. I let out a sigh as I turned my head to Chyanne.

"Maybe we shouldn't.." Kipp trailed off, there was a scared look on his face as he ran a hand through his white hair. He took a step back behind Nala who let out a sigh.

"Well, we can't just stand here." Chyanne told them.

"Come on, they won't bother you." Nala said, I was sure she mumbled something else, but I had no idea what it was.

Kipp and I followed behind Nala and Chyanne, when we passed by Ashton and his friends they shot us heavy glares. I held my hands tightly in front of me and let out a small sigh.

We found Malcom at his locker before Chyanne was dragged away by a couple of her friends. We stood there for awhile and I could hear a scoff behind me. I turned to see Luna standing with Michael and Calum on each side of her.

"Luke Hemmings, don't you know better than to dress like that?" Luna folded her arms. "We had this talk already, I bet you can't get it through your head yet, you stupid faggot."

"Easy.." Calum whispered to her. "You know how Ashton feels about that word."

"Ashton isn't here." Luna snarled. "I can do what I please."

"Get out of here Luna." Nala snarled as she stepped towards the girl.

"Stupid American.." Luna rolled her eyes. "I don't see why anyone deals with you, your so annoying." Nala just glared at her, as if the words never hurt her. They ricocheted off of her psyche.

Malcom and Kipp exchanged nervous glances before Kipp pulled back on Nala's arm. "It's not worth it." He told her.

"Listen to your freak show, Nala." Luna smiled before she looked back to me. "I'll deal with you later. Come on guys."

I let out a sigh, I really did not want anything to do with Luna.

"Come on Luke," Malcom said. "I can show you where your class is." Every day we had different classes in different orders and the schedule was confusing to me but all I knew was that I needed to follow it.

I walked behind Malcom as we navigated the crowded hallways. I caught a lot of attention and I groaned uncomfortably. Malcom laughed lightly at the noise but ignored it otherwise.

We walked into the classroom and I was not at all surprised to see Ashton and his goons in the class with me. Ashton cocked an eyebrow when he saw me.

Malcom walked to the corner where a few of his other friends were sitting. I followed closely behind him and sat down at one of the desks.

One the guys scoffed and laughed at me. "Do you wear lace panties too?"

"Knock it off, dude." Malcom rolled his eyes.

It was odd, I got attacked by a group of bullies, which was expected. But even kids who were under the same gun thought to barrage me with hatred.

I let out a sigh as I stood from my place and made my way across the room. I understood when I was no longer wanted in an area. Of course this lead me to a seat in front of Martin, one of Ashton's friends.

Ashton's friends were funny creatures. Most of them looked pretty nice - Martin, Gene, and Lee for example - but they were just as cold hearted as those who didn't look so nice. Luna and Draven being prime examples of that.

I could hear Martin snickering behind me and ignored it as much as I could. Of course, I would never actually say anything about it. I had other ways to deal with this, and it was a place I never visited until I reached the private academy I attended. But I had to leave it and now I was stuck in a place where I would probably end up dying.

Updates yay =3 there's actually a group of kids at my school - maybe like twenty different guys - who wear dresses and skirts. It's funny because I'm friends with most of them and we'll gush over clothing.
