It's been about a week since the heartbreaking ultrasound. Everyone is still upset, but everything has been so busy. It feels terrible not to be able to slow down and grieve.

"I just, I don't know!" I hear yelling from the boys' room.

Romeo is at the recording studio for his own album, so it was just the five boys here with me. I had been working on maths for the last couple of hours and I was upset no of them had come to pester me yet, so that was unusual.

What the fluck are these boys arguing about now? I get up from the couch, and tiptoe to their door. I crack it open. Zayn is standing by the hotel door, Liam is standing in front of him, Louis is sitting on the sofa with his feet on the coffee table, Niall sits beside him, and Harry stands with his hands in his pockets.

"It's just a couple of shows." Zayn shrugged.

"Really?" Louis isn't convinced.

"What's going on?" I ask.

They all face me. Zayn frowns, biting his lip back.

"Zayn is just gonna sit out a couple shows, that's all." Harry assures me, smiling.

"Why?" I frown.

"I just feel under the weather." Zayn admits.

A few moments of silence pass. Zayn gives me a hug before heading to his room. As soon as Zayn leaves, the rest of them start moving. I grab Harry.

"What is that really about?" I plead.

"We aren't lying." Harry promises.

That night in bed, it was hard for me not to remember the times Zayn missed tour last year. How he missed the release of FOUR, interviews, photoshoots. I tossed and turned in bed, sighing. I texted Romeo: are you up?

2:17 a.m.

- can i come over?
- yes

I went to Romeo's room and crawled into his bed. I laid under the covers, but we stayed separate, and he didn't ask any questions. I wonder if he knew. I think about how Zayn warned me about signing a contract after Romeo did.

"What do you know?" I whisper, facing the wall.

He snorts, "You're going to have to be more specific, Swallows."

"I never told you this," I sigh. "But Zayn said some pretty concerning stuff getting involved in music." I pause.

"Go on," Romeo waits.

"That's it, Zayn basically told me I shouldn't sign a contract. I wondered if he ever gave you any similar advice."

"No," he admits.

"He never said anything, like, concerning to you?" I press.

"No."
