Ellie's POV
The swelling in my brain is starting to go down again but I have a very severe concussion and that is the main reason they are keeping me in the hospital. My friends come and visit me everyday and Claire and Riley came yesterday and brought me homework that I have been missing. Right now Sarah, Jackie, Alex, Austin, Robert, and Zach are all sitting ing my room and we are just hanging out. For the most part Austin and I have been getting along but I only talk to him when I need to. I am still very mad at him.
"Do you get much sleep being in here?" Robert asked me
"Yeah sometimes. I don't really get sleep when they have an emergency and people are running through the hallways." I explained to him
"Has the school been ok with you missing so much?" Jackie asked me
"Yeah Claire and Riley has just been bringing my homework and then I give it back to them to give to my teachers. I need to get everything done to graduate on time." I explained to her
"Well I have to go to the bathroom so I am going to be right back." Sarah said getting up
"You guys don't have to stay with me all day you know. You guys can leave." I told them
"No we want to stay here, plus, we don't have to go back to school because we finished early." Alex explained to me
"Yay so you guys can come to my graduation now?" I asked them
"Yeah we can and we will be as embarrassing as always." Zach said smirking
"Shut up you guys are annoying sometimes." I said laughing too
My mom walked into the room and sat down next to me "How is your head pain?" She asked me
"It is getting a lot better each day." I replied
"Good I'm glad. Your father is coming to visit when you get to go home." She said
"Alright sounds like a plan. Mom I'm sorry for all of this." I apologized to her
"Sweetie none of this is your fault. You can't help it if you collide with another girl. There was nothing you could have done to prevent your car accident. You can't blame yourself."
"I know but I feel like I have put you, Jim, and Dad through so much hell because of everything that has happened. Why do these things keep happening to me?" I asked her crying now. The boys left at this point and my mom was rocking me back and forth
"I don't know why bad things happen to good people but I do know that everything happens for a reason and we have to deal with it. But you have to remember no matter how hard life gets and whatever it throws at you you just have to get back up and keep going." My mom said rubbing my back
"I know I am going to get through this I just need all the support I can get." I said wiping my tears
"Also Ellie sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better. And do you see all the people out there right now? You have got to believe that there are people who really want the best for you. You have people that really care, ok?"
"I love you Mom." I said giving her a hug
"I love you too Ellie." She said hugging me back
"Hey Ellie someone is here to see you." Jim said from the doorway
I looked up to see Adam standing there.
"I will let you two talk." My mom said getting up and closing the door. I could feel everybody in the hall was now staring at us but I didn't care.
"How are you feeling?" He asked sitting down in the chair next to me
"I'm better than what I was." I replied looking down
"When do they think you will be able to go home?" He asked
"In a couple weeks. What are you doing here Adam we broke up remember?"
We did and I feel terrible about home things ended. I was a dick to you and I was drunk and I apologize for all the things that I said to you."
"Well thank you for apologizing and I am sorry for the things that I said to you too but that doesn't change anything between us Adam."
"What the hell Ellie? I come all the way here to apologize to you and you say that. Why are you doing this to me?"
"You did this Adam! I didn't do anything!" I shouted at him
"Oh you know why you don't want to get back together with me is because your superstar ex boyfriend is here that's why isn't it? Your so dumb Ellie why would you go back to him when all he does is hurt you! You are making a big mistake." He said shaking his head
"The only mistake I ever made was going out with you! And don't say those things about Austin because you don't know jack shit about him! He was the best boyfriend I ever had and he treated me right."
"Then how come he isn't in here now? How come you guys arn't dating now!?"
"Because if you love someone set them free and if they love you in return they will come back." I said looking over at Austin now
"Whatever Ellie I'm leaving now. This is your last chance do you want me to stay or not?"
"She obviously wants you to go." Austin said from the doorway
"Who are you to tell me what to do?" Adam asked him
"Just get the hell out of here dude she obviously is done with you." Austin replied
"Whatever I'm outta here." Adam said walking out the door
"Thank you Austin." I said smiling weakly at him
"No problem Ellie. Look we might have broken up but I will always protect you." He said before walking out the door
