~June 11th, 2003 (later that day)
Matt's POV
I sat in my car in front of the rehab center that Josh was in. I grabbed the bottle of wine by the neck, took a big sip from it and put it back in the cup holder beside my seat. Luckily they were big enough for the bottle or it would have split all over my car. I took off my seat belt and stepped out of the car, slamming the door slightly behind me. I took at deep breath and walked into the building where I saw the front desk workers, sitting behind the long stone desk with a wooden top. I thought it was ugly but, I guess that is why this place is ugly because no one wants to be here. That's right. I just roasted a rehab center. Deal with it.
Josh's POV
I was looking at the folded piece of paper in my bed, not opening it. Jake was drying his hair from his shower that he took a few minutes ago. What was this paper? It looks old. I asked to myself. I looked inside the card again.
Dear Joshua,
It's sad that you're leaving but, I'm glad you got better. You always tried to make a joke even when there was nothing to be happy about. We had good times and bad times (mostly bad) but, it was fun to get to meet you and help you out. Happy 18th birthday Josh. I couldn't get you much but, I would like for you to have your own adventure.
From: Emma
Emma was the only nurse that understood me. She tried to make rehab fun for me, even though it wasn't at most times. She had a great personality and was like a older sister to me, only not mean to me because I was younger. I started unfolding the paper when the intercom from the building turned on.
"Would Joshua Ramsay come to the front desk? Thank you" a woman said. Guess it's time to go. I told myself. I put the folded paper in my bag, zipped it up and swung it onto my shoulder. Just as I was about to leave, I felt a hand on my shoulder without my bag. Jake. I turned around to see him fully clothed. Thank god.
"Hey man, it was great having you here as a roommate. Hope we will see each other after I get out of here." He said. I smirked a little, giving him a short hug.
"Me too man. Hope to see you soon." I told him, breaking away our hug. I opened the door behind me and walked out, looking back at my roommate turning away to go back to his bed. I closed the door and resting my head on the concrete walls. This is it. I'm going home... I said to myself. I lifted my head off the wall and started walking towards the front desk, not to see my parents and sister, but to see Matt, talking to Ashlyn. Matt notices me and I smile a little. Matt runs to me and hugs me around my waist. I hug him in return, rubbing his back.
"I missed you Joshy..." Matt whispers quietly, but enough for me to hear him. I ruffle his hair and lift up his chin that was resting on my chest.
"I missed you too Matty." I smile a little and kiss his forehead. He grabs my hand and leads me out the doors. I felt free to be honest. We walked to the car and Matt walked to his side, letting go of my hand. I looked back at the building. I was going to miss it even though I hated it. I hopped into the passenger side of Matt's car and looked at him. I missed him so much.
"We should get going. We have to get to your~" I smashed my lips into his, making him stop mid- sentence. I pulled away and looked at him. He was shocked across his face. He slammed his lips against mine as I ran my hands through his brown mess of a hair. He pulled away quickly and just looked at me. "We have to get to your house Josh." He said, moving his hair out of his face. I sighed.
"Give me your phone man." I said, holding my hand out. Matt fished his Iphone out of his pocket and put it in my hand. I unlocked his phone and called my house, blocking Matt's number so they couldn't see that I was using his phone. It ringed three times before my mom picked up.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hey mom."
"Hi Joshua! So glad to hear you! I sent Matt to pick you up at rehab a few minutes ago." Time to get my way.
"Yeah...About that..." I tried to act a little annoyed.
"What's wrong baby?" She is falling for it.
"One of the patients got out and no one can leave the building till he is found..."
"Oh, I'm so sorry baby. I was hoping for you to come home today...Your father and I have a party for you and everything. I guess we can wait till you are free to go..." She said, disappointed.
"It's okay mom. It's great that you put the thought in it. I guess wish I was there to spend it with you." I'm sorry mom but, I want to spend my time, fucking my boyfriend cause I haven't in years. I said to myself, laughing a little.
"Okay Josh. We will see you when we can. I love you baby." She said, and hung up. I locked Matt's phone and putting it in a cup holder.
"Josh, you're a genius. I can't believe she bought it!" Matt said, surprised at what I had just done. I rubbed the back of my neck, smirking a little. Matt put his seat belt on and turned the car on. I look at him questionable.
"where are we going Matty?" I ask, as I put my seat belt on.
"A hotel for the night. Your family can wait another day. I can't" He said, winking at me as he started to drive away from the hell I stayed in for 3 years.
