Chapter 13: Future talk

The rain outside was getting worse and it had started to loudly thunder and the lightning was happening more frequently. I had run downstairs and locked myself in the bathroom at this point. Thunderstorms scared me.

~~Flashback to when I was 4~~

"Let's play hide and go seek!" My friend Amelia shouted.

We were at her house and there was about 6 of us little kids there for her birthday party. It was storming out so we had to find games to play inside.

We'd agreed on hide and go seek.

I decided to hide in the laundry room. It was really creepy in there when it was dark though, I'd always imagined monsters coming out to get me. I hoped I would get caught early so I could come out of the room, I mean it was too late to switch now, the game had already started.

I shut my eyes and prayed for whoever was it to come quickly, I mean the laundry room was a pretty obvious choice.

After what feels like hours, I was still waiting in the laundry room. The storm outside hat gotten bigger and louder and the house had started to shake.

Scared, I ran out of my spot and into the living room, to find out that the power had gone off. I was the only left in Amelia's house, I guess they had forgotten about me.

~~Present~~

I guess since I was 4, being home alone in a completely dark house except for the lightning strikes was terrifying.

Ever since then, is always been afraid of storms and when the power went off. I guess it's a dumb reason to be afraid, but i can't shake the fear.

So here I was, hiding alone in Ashton's downstairs bathroom, sitting in the tub and whimpering. I had my knees tucked up against my chest and my head buried in my knees.

"Kace?" I heard someone softly say from outside the door.

"Kaylee, can I come in?" He says again.

Not long after, I feel someone rubbing his hand over my knees and whispering calming things to me.

"Shhh, Kaylee it's ok, you are safe here. Please tell me what's wrong?" He asks.

I look up to see that it's Ashton who has come to join me. I guess I should have locked the bathroom door.

"Come on Kace, lets go upstairs with the boys and watch a calming movie" Ash says to me as he grabs my hands, pulling me up from my sitting position.

I obey and let him lead me back up to his room.

This time I sat in the bean bag chair and Ashton put in The pursuit of happyness.

About 20 minutes into the film, lightning struck a tree outside, like really nearby. I started to whimper and the thunder grew louder and louder. Ashton climbed off his bed and came and sat down beside me and held me while I cried into my hands.

Remember how I said I don't like hugs? That hasn't changed. But for some reason I didn't mind right now because I was terrified and having Ashton there made me feel just better.

I guess I must've fallen asleep in his room along with the 3 other boys.

When I woke, I saw bright rays of sun shining through the window. But it wasn't my window. Where the hell was I? I shot up quickly to take in my surroundings.

Oh right, I was at Ashton's because there was a big storm last night.

I heard someone beside me groan. It was Ashton. I guess when I shot up I must've woken him up too.
