"Jordan your going shopping today" Mama says as I stare at my bowl of fruit loops.
"What?" I ask confused.
"Your getting some decent and proper clothes for Stefan to where around here" she explains.
"So a cowboy make over?". Mama nods her head. "Oh, Yay. This gonna be interesting" I say smirking at Stefan. He looks unimpressed and like he doesn't want to do this. It just makes me smirk even more.
"Do you know how to drive?" I ask holding the keys.
"Yes" he says. I throw him the keys and walk out the door. He follows me soon after and we start to travel in to town. Town was lest than a mile away but it still felt like a long drive. We are completely silent in the car until he asks a question.
"So do I always have to dress like that?"
"Yes. Girls have in different. Bonfire, Competitions and Western dances you have to wear complete western outfits. School is whatever you want and town is whatever. Prom, like normal- beautiful dresses and parties and school dances is normally like non-western and school dances in a dress with cowboy boots".
"How do you remember that?".
"Just do. Ready of Jordan's complete cowboy make-over?" I ask.
"So excited."
---
We get in and I pick out a couple of pairs of jeans. He tries them on and comes out.
"What do you think?" he says as I look down at my phone. It was a text, from someone called Jack. I can't help look at the message. "What do you think?" he asks again. I look up from my phone and shake my head trying to get rid of what the message said in my phone.
"Good" I say and he walks back in. He comes out and grabs the clothes. "Why aren't you trying on the rest?"
"It's clear you don't want to do this."
"No. Nah. I want to I just got a text. That shocked me. But we'll get these clothes and I'll show you how to ride" I say smirking. He looks scared but I was more happy to be doing something more eventful. I was sick of shopping. And besides its always funny to see someone fall. "Come on it will be fun" I say walking towards the lady and paying for the clothes.
We head back and I see a car pull into the drive way. It looked like my sister's car. The door opens and a little kid rushes out. I jump out of the car and run up to him, leaving Stefan both confused and sitting alone. I run up to him and give him a huge hug.
"Where's my kiss?" I say to him, pointing to my cheek. He lightly kisses my cheek and then looks over at him mom.
"Can you watch him?" she asks.
"Of, course. More time to hang out with my best friend also my nephew. We don't spend enough time together" I say picking him up. He's hat pokes me in the eye but its alright. It only got my mascara. "I like your hat" I say tilting it a bit to the side.
"Were you doing much this afternoon?"
"Nah, teaching him how to ride. Do you think you can help him Jack?" I ask my nephew. He nods his head and I laugh at what he does.
"Ok I've got to go" she says and kisses him on the cheek. She drives off and we walk over to Stefan who is now out of the car.
"This is Stefan. Stefan meet my bestie: Jack" I say he smiles and shakes his hand.
"Ready" I say as Stefan tries to grasp the saddle on the horse. He jumps up and the horse stands still. "Kick her" I say. "Gently and she will walk" I explain. He kicks her and she starts to walk. "Pull your reins out to the left to turn. Pull them the reins back to stop, kick to go faster and when turning to the right pull the reins to the right." He goes around in circles and then stops in front of me.
"If your the expert then why got you show me how its done?" he asks smiling at me.
"Cause' that's not my horse" I say.
"Then go get him."
"Fine I will" I say walking off.
I come back with a two horse and two hats.
"Why do you have two hats?" he asks.
"Get off" I say and let the horse go for a second. He jumps off and stands in front of me. I give him a hat. He takes it and puts it on his head. I put mine on and fix his. I tilt it to the side and then tap it on top. "Hey Jack, who's horse do you want to go on?"
"His" he says pointing to Stefan.
"His? But you love Harley."
"Harley like the bike?"
"Yes, Got a problem?"
"No. I'm just glad he chose me not you. After all you don't want girl cooties. Right?" he asks. Jack shakes his head and smiles. I drop my bottom jaw and look at Jack. He continues to laugh and I go over and pick him up. Stefan hops on the horse and I put Jack between him and the horse's neck. I jump on my horse and walk off. They follow slowly. As I led I can hear them giggling and Stefan talking to him. I was surprised he would be so, so- child-friendly.
"Where are you taking us?" Stefan asks as he starts to catch up.
"A special spot. I found it last year".
---
We get there and it looked so beautiful. The sun was just setting and the grass was warm and soft. As we come to a stop my phone goes off again. I check it and its the same person. I stare at the message in shock and Stefan picks up on it.
"What's wrong?" he asks.
"Nothing. We should head back" I say putting my phone in my pocket.
"Alright then" he says suspicious.
We sit down at dinner and my phone goes off again. Stefan tries to look over but I quickly get rid of the message before he sees. He stands up and looks down on me. "Jordan will you help me with the night feeds".
"No" I reply. I look over at Mama she looks annoyed by what I just said. I know what he only wanted me to go so he could ask me about the texts. "Fine" I say rolling my eyes, and stand up.
I walk in in front of him and he yells "How was texting you?" I stop and turn around. "I know someone was texting you. Who was it?"
"Why is it any of your business?"
"I got a text message. I get thousands."
"Who texted you!" he says walking towards me. He gets right up and close to me. I look at him and I am really annoyed.
"You do not threaten me" I walk away and out the door.
"Then who's Harry?" he asks. I turn towards him again.
"Don't you dare speak of that name."
"Why? Tell me why and I'll leave you alone."
"I'll tell you if you tell me your secret. Why you ran away. You said on the first day it was because you wanted to be free. That's not the case. Let me guess, you live by the motto: Love and caring ruins you. You just didn't want to be alone. You were afraid to life without your family. And a home is worthless with out a family. Well have I got news for you love is what keeps you fighting and you never found a home because you don't deserve one. You disgust me. I'm surprised you haven't ran away already."
"Your right. But what if I found a reason to stay. There has to be something, an anchor that helps you stay." I finally look at him. I sit down on a block of hay and he sits down next to me.
"Harry, was a guy I knew. Before I met him, when I was two my mom died and my dad may as well have been dead. I was raised my auntie, who fostered kids. So one day she brought home this guy. Who was hot, and I had a huge crush on him. I was 14 at the time and he was 17 and one day it was just me in the house and he raped me. I tried to tell him to stop but I couldn't. The next day I told my auntie but the word had already got around school. Everyone started calling me the girl that loved to easy and that I came on to him. So I got moved to here and no one knew me here so it was a fresh start. He started texting me today and I haven't actually read them. I have so much hatred for him, I don't want to. Sometimes the hate is just too powerful. So I might be a bitch, but I'm not heartless. I haven't told that to anyone. Please don't tell anyone. Or the next thing to come out of your mouth will be your teeth."
