Shay just gave me a headache. How will they believe me if I tell them the truth?

"I... I wanted to pick some flowers for my father." I lied. They looked at each other full of suspect. My palm started to sweat.

Liam then looked straight into my eyes. I backed up a little.

"You're lying." He whispered. It's obvious that I'm not a good liar.

"You won't believe me if I tell you the truth." I laughed helplessly. There is no good for me to lie at them, they will discover it anyway.

They both stared at me. Their eyes shone the thirst of knowing it. I cleared my throat and told them the whole story, explained every doubt they had. Their eyes then grew wider with unbelief.

"As I just mentioned, you won't believe me sir."

"Aye, this is impossible..." Shay spoked after a few seconds, still thinking about what I've just said.

Shay and Liam commented nothing more before arriving the Davenport Homestead. They just still can't believe what just happened to me. Am I a friend or a foe to them? They can't tell. Maybe they'll leave the decision to Achilles.

When we arrived the homestead, Achilles greeted me warmly and asked my name. He also introduced himself and the other two assassins though I already know their names. Then Liam started to report the mission they were doing and how they met me. Achilles was also interested about my story, but he plugged deep into thought after knowing it.

"Well... this might be a rare case in cause of the Piece of Eden. This is the only way to explain it." Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, he concluded after a while, "No one shall underrate the power of it."

"Then how could I return?"

Achilles sighed, "I can't promise you that you could ever return one day."

"But," he added, "the homestead is aways in your favor. So does the Brotherhood."

"Does that mean I have to join the Brotherhood?" I feel excited but worried. It is a fan's dream to be in the Brotherhood, but maybe it's different in reality.

Achilles didn't answer me. After he bandaged my ankle, he told Shay to take me to the room upstairs. He said I needed to rest.

There aren't many things in my room, but it's cozy. There is a wardrobe with nothing inside. Luckily, there is a shelf with books although it's dusty. Seems that no one had been living here for a long time. I picked one to read. But I didn't read much because the sun was setting when I started. It's hard to read the stories with candles at night. What a pity.

As I daze out in bed for a while, someone knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's me." I recognized the musicality in the voice . It is Shay.

"Come in please." I replied. He entered the room with a long stick.

"Liam and I fetched this for you." He hand it to me, "It will help you walk since your ankle got hurt."

"That is... very nice of you!" I replied shyly, "It would be nice if you leave it near the wardrobe."

Shay didn't leave the room immediately after putting it in place, "I have another thing to ask you." He said calmly and pulled a chair near my bed, "You have been thinking about joining the Brotherhood, haven't you?"

I decide not to answer him. But he continues his words.

"I'm not forcing you. I just want you to think clearly. Joining it requires determination and certain potential. It may not be as easy as you think."

"I understand your worries. Please give me some time to consider it."

He nodded and glared out the window. "Please forgive me that I have to take my leave. You could go to Achilles if you have any problems." He stood up and walked by the door, "Good night Alessandra, and sweet dreams."

"Good night, Shay. Thank you for caring about me."

He smiled and blew out the candles. Leaving me alone in the darkness.

The night is quiet except the crickets' chirp. I thinked about my family, they must have been worrying all day. I missed them so much, I miss Jacey too. Tears of desperate and anger starts to roll down my cheeks. Why did god played such a joke on my fate? Why can't I live happily with the people I loved just like others? Now I'm all alone in this world, the only chance to return is to survive. I have to prevent myself from the grip of the Reaper. From now on, it is an obligation to learn all the skills to survive. This isn't a paradise, it's a battlefield.

I made up my mind.
