“Who are you?” Mayvonne felt a sudden fright. Her heart was beating fast. There has no response from the person who covered her eyes.
“Liza?.. Lawrence??” she said. When she mentioned the name Lawrence her heart beats extra faster
“I guess you’re right” Lawrence sat beside her. “How is my Juls?” Mayvonne’s heart was beating fast like if her heart has no ribs then, it might just go out her chest.
“Law-Lawrence!” Mayvonne’s tone raised “You really fond of surprising people.” She was catching breath. She tried her best so Lawrence would not notice it.
“Eh, ganito ako eh… I miss you my Juliet” Lawrence face full of sincerity.
“Really?! You missed me?... I don’t think so. Busy ka sa isa mo pang friend” She said.
“Am I hearing a sound of a jealous girlfriend?” his teased.
She blushed. “Of course not! You wish” her hissed.
Lawrence laughed. “I’m just kidding.” He smiled. It seems like Mayvonne was glued on his smile. {“Don’t look at me like that, I’m melting.. O God! He was so handsome! Shoot!”} she said to her mind.
On the other hand, Lawrence was looking at her face, how he was attracted to her eyes down to her nose and now to her lips. He could now imagine himself kissing her. He wondered the taste of her lips He uses to steal glances on this face every time there were in the class or every time there were together. God knows how much he missed her!
“I just miss the first person I knew here in this school, my so-called Bestfriend” Mayvonne said, breaking the silence. She could not stand Lawrence stares. She saw him smiled.
Lawrence on the other hand, touched at Mayvonne’s words, it was the sweetest words he ever heard from her!
“I missed you too. God knows how much I do.” He said to her sincerely. The next thing was they were looking at each other. It was Mayvonne who pulled back first. She opened her books that she was reading few minutes ago.
“So anong sasalihan mong org?” Lawrence diverting the topic to dispel the awkwardness they had earlier.
“I was thinking of joining Booklovers club, but Liza signed me up for Glee Club” Mayvonne said. She was not looking at Lawrence. Her eyes on her books.
“Really? Kumakanta ka ba talaga? Baka mawalan ng reputasyon ang Glee Club sa pagsali mo” Lawrence teased. .
Mayvonne forcibly closed her books, look at him and said, “Excuse me?! I can sing kaya. I’ll prove it to you!”
Lawrence laughed hard and said , “Really?! You sound like a frog when you talks.”
Mayvonne was about to hit him when he dodged it like a real athlete. It ended up with Mayvonne chasing Lawrence.
“Lagot ka sa akin pag naabutan kita!” Mayvonne said chasing him.
Lawrence stop running and said, “Try frog princess”
She fists him and again, Lawrence dodged it. “Grrrr! Laaaawwwrennceee gorilla!” she grinned. Her teeth were clenching.
While Mayvonne was chasing Lawrence, she did not notice a rock on the ground that made her stumbled. When she was about to fall on the ground Lawrence agitatedly caught her. They were so close that their face was half inch closer to each other. They paused for few seconds, looking at each other’s eyes. They were catching breath when the bell rang, signed of classes start.
“Are you okay Mayvonne, I’m sorry.” Lawrence said apologetically. Lawrence was guiding her up. He was now blaming himself.
“No. No. I’m okay. Let’s go” Mayvonne was regaining her composure. Lawrence turned back and Mayvonne punched his arms.
“I caught you finally” Mayvonne told Lawrence. She was laughing hard.
Lawrence laughed. “Okay you got me now. You’re clever my Juliet.” Lawrence replied. They both laughed.
Lawrence holds her hand. She looked at him. She just let it be. She smiled secretly. She loves the sensation brought by the warmth of his palm. They went to their classroom holding hands.
