Chapter 5
Boy, time really flew when having fun. Dominic and I kept passing notes and I never realized the time that had passed by. The car by over here was so relaxed. It felt effortless, kind of like we had already knew each other. We talked about math class and our favorite hobbies. We both really wanted to know more about each other that we didn't already know. It was nice.
When we arrived at McDonalds and walked inside side by side, he looked over to me and said "I'll pay for you Martha. What do you want?" I didn't know how to respond to that. When I was usually with my friends, I ordered a big mac with a lot of ketchup. I didn't want to seem like a fatty to him so I just replied to him by saying "I had a big lunch so just a salad, diet coke, and small fries." I shouldn't have added those fries in there. He'll think I'm greedy. He frowned and said "You sure? That sounds pretty small. I like a girl with a big appetite," and then he laughs that gorgeous laugh of his showing his pearly whites. His laugh was so contagious, it made me want to laugh to. I laughed and said, "Hahaha it's okay I'm fine." I almost changed my mind, but thought about what Sally said in the bathroom earlier today and grabbed my sides. I have to lose this weight. Good thing she was coming over this weekend. I can get that diet of hers so I could hurry up and lose it. I hope Dominic didn't think I'm fat.
Dominic looked at me like he could read my mind. It scared me, yet made me feel like we had a connection. I went to go find us seats and found a cute booth by a window for us. I sat down and waited patiently. While I waited, I decided to text Sally. I totally forgot to tell her what happened today. She is going to be so excited!
I texted:
OMG! U will not believe wut happened 2dai. In math class, Dominic sent me notes and asked ME OUT! He also had detention so we were passing notes. Oh yeahh, I forgot to mention. I'm at McDonalds w/ him rite now :)))) Omg g2g hes coming with our foooooood ^-^
I didn't pay attention to how much I typed in that one little text so she probably won't get it. Darn I'll have to send it again! I put my phone away just in time because he slid into the seat across from me with a tray full of food. He didn't buy what I asked him to buy. He bought what I really wanted. Suprisingly, I never told him what I really wanted though.
I asked him curiously, "This isn't what I ordered Dominic. I ordered a salad remember?" He looked at me and smiled. He replied knowingly, "I know this isn't what you ordered, but I could tell by the look in your eyes this is food you wanted," he continued, "Besides, you didn't know this, but sometimes when you went to McDonalds with Sally, I would kind of follow you there with my friends and see what you get. I know that sounds creepy, but I have had a big crush on you since that run-in in the hallway last year." I was shocked, creeped out, yet touched at the same time. I can't believe he ordered me food that he knew he wanted and had the guts to tell me that uber creepy story about following me, but he did it because he cared about me. I can't believe he actually had a crush on me and NOT Sally.
I looked at him sheepishly and said in a whisperish tone, "You like me? Honestly, I thought you would've fallen for Sally. She has that gorgeous red hair that falls perfectly and those freckles that you just want to count. I could see why you would pick her, but me? I don't get it. I'm just a popular brainiac - A N E R D." I sighed and looked at my lap and started twiddling my fingers. It's a nasty habbit I got when I was younger. When I was little, I would get really nervous and had to do something with my hands. Instead of crossing them and uncrossing them, I would twiddle my fingers and somehow that calmed me down. People would call me Twiddle Dee Twiddle Dum, even though that was meant for two people. I still don't understand that to this day.
Dominic grabbed my hands and kissed them so gently, I could barely feel it. He looked at me so filled with admiration and love and said to me in the sweetest voice someone has ever spoken to me in and said, "Martha, you are beautiful. I don't know why you can't see that. Your blue eyes are like the deep blue sea and I know this sounds corny coming from a guy but they really do make we want to swim in them." I smiled so wide, I thought my lips would fall off my face. I had never heard such beautiful words spoken to me. Before I could get a sentence out, he continued "There's that gorgeous smile of yours. I want to be the guy that makes you smile like that and never stop. I want to be the guy to hold you when you're down and know everything about you. I want to the be the one for you."
And thats when it happened. He put his index finger underneath my chin and pulled me towards his face. He leaned into me and kissed me so preciously and so tenderly like I would break. His lips tasted like peppermint, not the nasty kind, but the candy kind. It was the fairytale ending to this perfect day. I may have gotten detention, but I got the guy.
What could possibly go wrong?
