Chapter 2

"Come in Ms. Copeland" boomed Principal Brick. Everyone was scared of him because he was old buff man who used to be in the military. Everyone in the school always wondered why he became a principal of a high school after leaving the military. Just hearing his voice scared the bajeebas out of me. I got up slowly out of my seat and gulped. I didn't want to go into his office, but somehow my feet moved toward his office. I walked in and stood in front of him. Something about him made me want to stand up straight. I had never gotten in trouble before so I didn't know what to expect.

"Why weren't you in fourth period today?" Prinicpal Brick questioned. Just that one question made it sound like an interrogation. I felt like I was starting to sweat bullets. I gulped and barely replied, "I was in fourth period Principal Brick, but I had to go to the bathroom due to drinking a lot of water earlier in the day." Oh no. Why did I just say that? I sound like a complete moron. Principal Brick will think I am toying with him and trying to make a joke out of this. He gives me such a stern look I want to run away.

"So you are saying that you left class to use the bathroom and it took you a half an hour? Almost the majority of class Ms. Copeland?!" his voice getting louder on every word. He swrirls his chair to the black phone. He picked up the phone and said to me "Sit down. I am calling your parents to let them know about your bathroom adventures and you will have detention after school today." I slump into the seat in front of his chair and frown. I can't believe it was thirty minutes in the bathroom. I look around his office to see if there any objects to see what he is like. Im not suprised that his office is pretty plain besides all the military junk. There are trophies on the shelf behind him, certificates aorund the room on the wall, and medallions on his desk. Everything in his office is military-related. I felt like if I did something wrong, I would go to jail. He hung up the phone after speaking to my parents and sat back in his chair and stared.

"I have called your parents and now you can go back to class." He said to me. I nodded and replied, "Okay sir. I really am sorry for staying so long in the bathroom. You won't be seeing me in your office again unless for something good." He looked at me and smiled, "Good and I will hold you to that promise Ms. Copeland. You have a good record and so does your sister, Caitlin." As soon as he mentioned my sister, Caitlin, I grimaced. Everyone is always comparing me to her, especially my parents. Caitlin this or Caitlin that. 'Why can't you do more like Caitlin?' 'She was on the cheerleading team and the debate team and got straight A's.'  It was so frustrating. Everything I did was not good enough.

"Yes she does. Well sir, I should get to class. I have just enough time to not be late to my next class." I said. Principal Prick laughed a deep belly laugh and nodded his head. As I fast walked back to my class, I  thought maybe the Principal isn't so bad as I thought he was.
