Chapter 7
I woke up to a loud slam of my door hitting the wall. I lifted my head from under the pillows and turned around to see Sally. What in the world was she doing here so early? I turned to my clock and read the time: 11:58 am.
I jumped out of bed and started running to my closet. I can't believe I missed the majority of school. I needed to hurry if I was going to make it for my last few classes. I turned around to Sally and shrieked "Why aren't you at school? We are both so late. I can't believe I slept in."
Sally just stood there and laughed so hard, I thought she was going to laugh up a lung. She looked at me and said "Maybe because today is Saturday. I don't know about you, but last time I checked there was no school on Saturdays." She sat on my bed and kicked off her shoes. She sprawled her beautiful red hair all over my bed and relaxed. I slid to the floor and just thought 'Wow how could I be so stupid?'
Sally sat up and asked "Where were you yesterday? You never met me at my house and you sent me a text, but I didn't get it." I forgot that I hadn't told Sally what happened. I got up from my green carpeted floor and walked over to by bed. I sat across from Sally and exclaimed "Yesterday was the best day, until I got home. " I took a deep breath and started explaining to her what happened. I started from when I got back to class to time in principal's office to going back to class and detention. And of course MCDONALDS!
"OHMGEE! I AM SO JELLY! NOT FAIR! So now you have an ahmazingly cute boyfriend and I'm left single?!" she said like I was ditching her. This is not the reaction I was expecting. I thought she would be happy for me and was all excited. I mean her best friend just got a boyfriend.
"Well I wasn't expecting that." I said honestly. I really wasn't. She bumped me in the shoulder and said, "God Martha you are so gullable. I'm just kidding. Of course I am happy for you. So what did you order at McDonalds? Please please don't tell me you didn't order the usual because the usual would make you look like a pig. And we are trying to lose weight REMEMBER?"
"Ugh! Sally don't worry. I ordered a salad and splurged on some fries, but we didn't exactly get around to eating it until it was getting cold. Haha so I didn't really eat. I remembered the diet so stop worrying. So explain to me the diet you wanted me to do that will work." I said back to her clearly annoyed. Sometimes I feel like she treats me like her daughter and not her best friend, but I just shrugged the feeling off. She's my best friend.
Isn't that what best friends do? Look out for each other?
