the members of the body once rebelled against the belly, who, they said, led a leisurely, enjoyable life while they all worked to keep it satisfied.
the hands declared that they would lift barely a crumb even to keep him from starving.
the mouth said that it would not let a speck of food enter the belly.
the legs made it known that they would carry him about no longer, and so on with the others.
so the belly cleverly allowed them to rebel and go about their own paths, knowing that he was the one who supplied them blood and nourishment, and they soon found themselves becoming mere skin and bone.
the public is like a body, the leader like the belly, and whoever rebels against the belly is no better than a traitor to his country.
