Chapter 11: What Friendship Looks Like

Senshi tried to smile,then grimaced and picked up the book and flipped a few pages. He read a few sections and closed it.

"Maybe on second thought,it's good nobody's watching; at least not Yukino or Ruby...they'd never trust...something......like me.." After he said that, he seemed to think a moment,then sat back to the tree. "I'm pretty sure Yukino just wanted to help outta common sense and can't get out...." He theorized and had a sad smile,as he looked down. "I remember she said something like that after I fought Aster.."

"But it's more than that, Senshi." Yukino mumbled before covering her mouth. {I was worried that you'd get hurt and that you would never be able to restore peace. But now, now I just don't want you to leave all of us.} She thought to herself as she bit her lip. Senshi opened the journal again to another page.

"I can't even find my way to the other Pieces of Mirvaal...if I can't do that,then I'm gonna have to go to Plan C.....maybe Princess KaraJane knows..." He finished as he smiled,then went back to a frown. "....I'd have to go back home to do that...." He reminded himself. Yukino listened closely, wondering what he was doing out here anyway. There was an odd sound and Senshi seemed startled then looked in that direction,the rims of his iris' eyes glowing blue and orange. The sound became a little closer and when he seemed to be ready to attack,there was a green glow. Two of them near each other that it seems to be eyes. Senshi was calmed a little and his eyes went back to normal. The green vanished. Yukino watched where the green had been and frowned curiously. She felt the urge to go talk to him, but decided against it until he left the spot. It was Ruby. Senshi looked surprised.

"Ruby? How'd..?" He started,speechless. Ruby walked up to him.

"I read the old journal...I...I know,and I understand..but you don't have to do this..what about that promise?" She asked, cupping her hands together. Yukino watched the two curiously, wondering how the other girl had gotten there without Yukino seeing her. Senshi looked behind him.

"Yukino's place is that way,but you came from the opposite way.." Senshi told her,confused. Ruby smiled a little.

"I have ways." She said simply. She took out the journal she had. It looked exactly like what Senshi was reading. "But....you really should'nt leave...you ARE changing something.." Senshi looked at her a moment,then down.

"Not much to the whole government... Gared was right about how I wasn't ready" He told her. They both were silent for a moment. Ruby looked a little mad. And she did something Yukino'd never expect from her. She slapped him,but not too hard. That got his pure attention.

"You listen here! Just because Gared is older than you and has more experience doesn't mean he can tell you what YOU can or can't do!" She slightly scolded. Yukino raised her eyebrows when she saw Ruby slap Senshi. She hadn't thought the girl would have had it in her. Senshi rubbed his cheek,pretty calm, and looked at her. "Plus,if it weren't for you.....I'd be dead...and I'm not talking about when I got shot...." Senshi looked concerned.

"What do you mean...?" He asked. Ruby turned her arms right side down. There were several scars along her wrists all the way to her elbows. Yukino covered her mouth to muffle her gasp.

"Ruby, no." She mumbled. The light was hitting her arms just enough for Yukino to see them from the angle she was at. Senshi blinked and gently rubbed his thumb on her skin.

"It's healed...it'd take maybe a month for something like this--" That was when he realized. She met him and Yukino a week ago, but if they met in such a short time... "Ruby..." He looked at her to look her in the eyes, but her head was down,trembling.

"I was going to try again when my dad wouldn't know. But then I met you guys...I haven't touched a single knife since.. Except for cooking..." Her voice wavered.
