The trio jumped when the door abruptly swung open. Ruby lowered her fist and unclenched it. The person who answered was a man,around 19, who had short and choppy very dark green hair with dark green eyes. He was tan and had a long scar across his forehead. He wore dark clothes with a bronze chain connecting his belt and wallet,which was in his pocket. He sneered.
"Wow! You're Ruby, ain't ya? Man, you look just as fine as when ya left, Come on in!" He exclaimed, as he was chuckling. Senshi and Yukino didn't like him right away,how he was talking to Ruby.
"Don't worry guys; they act like this cause no other girl can stand them." Ruby assured them as they followed the man.
"Oh, I'm sure.." Yukino agreed with slight attitude. Ruby ignored the comment
"Mike, do you know where Gaudete is?" She asked calmly. The man named Mike looked at her.
" 'es at the top floor, to the right. But he's in a mood,his GF left 'im." Mike warned her. Ruby rolled her eyes.
"Great. Well,thank you,Mike." She said as she lead Senshi and Yukino up. Yukino looked down at the stairs as they walked up.
"It's surprising that these stairs haven't broke.." Yukino said,honestly surprised. Ruby nodded. Once they headed to their destination, Ruby knocked.
"Gaudete? You there?" Once she asked that,another man around 19, brown hair, blue eyes,and casual clothing answered. He looked sad,but his eyes lit up when he saw Ruby. She smiled a little. "Hey, long weeks, no see..." The man smiled.
"Hey, Ruby. How's it going in the higher altitudes?" He asked. Yukino and Senshi had no idea what to think. Compared to Mike's warning, he was relaxed.
"It's been....uh..." She looked at Senshi and Yukino. "....unexpected..." She then sincerely smiled. They smiled back. Gaudete noticed their connection.
"You made friends,too. I'm proud of you. I told you you can make it." He told her. Ruby tried to smile, but her expression darkened.
"You really changed,you know...since we met..." Gaudete's smile faded.
"I'm sor-" Ruby shot an angered look at him.
"SORRY ISN'T GOING TO HEAL MY SCARS!!" Ruby yelled at him. Yukino frowned agreeing. Senshi thought a moment.
"Those...scars...?" Senshi asked Ruby. "He made you?" Ruby looked at him.
"He was one of many reasons." She told him,hugging herself. Gaudete didn't seem fazed.
"We've changed our ways; we are fixing our crimes. Remember that devotion you made to yourself?" Ruby put her hand on her right shoulder.
"Yeah....'My Freedom Has Feathers, feathers you cannot pluck away to dust; feathers that are light,are patient,and do not fear.'...." Ruby said aloud. It sounded like a poem. She looked to her friends and slipped down her sleeve to show a tattoo of a black bird. It wasn't detailed. It showed the head and wings soaring. But nothing else. Simple and beautiful. Just like her. "Just about the only good thing from you, Gaudete... But I'm not here for old time's sake..." She continued,as she turned back to Gaudete, pulling back up her sleeve. Yukino honestly liked the tattoo.
"State your need." Gaudete said,his way of saying 'go on'.
"We need you to help track and find my friend's brother. You're the best in that practice. But you do NOT kill." Ruby shortly explained.
"What do I get out of it?" Gaudete asked. Ruby thought a moment.
"Possible forgiveness..... POSSIBLE..." Ruby stated.
