That night, the group set up not too far away from outside where Akuma and Gared are. Senshi knew he had the second journal, the copy from what Ruby has, with him. He looked to Yukino. It was about time she knew, too. Before it's too late.
After Yukino just sat by herself, Senshi went to her.
"Hey, doing alright?" She asks.
"There's something I need you to know,"
"What is it?" When she asked, Senshi gave her the journal.
"It's about time you knew, like Ruby did." He explained. Yukino hugged him.
"Thanks." She muttered. A silence drifted for a while.
"How to you feel about Ruby, really?" Yukino looked up at Senshi from the journal. Senshi looked at Ruby, who was talking with Cruz and the twins; then back at Yukino.
"To be honest, I've been distracted by everything else to consider it. But, if I did feel that way..." He looked at the journal, Yukino understanding what he was thinking.
"I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. It's been several years since it happened." She responded.
"...Yeah...but first things first is Gared." He said, pointing out the main priority. Yukino nods.
"I'm going to sleep. You better rest too, big shot."
"I will, I will." He assured her before Yukino stood and went to sleep next to Mitsu.
"Hey, Ruby?" Cruz gets Ruby's attention.
"What is it?"
"Um...It might be too personal; but I think I love Gared..." Cruz bashfully admitted.
"I'm glad you trust me to tell me, but...why mention it so suddenly?" Ruby asks.
"Well....I was hoping you could remember if he ever mentioned me.."
"The only times I ever saw him, he fought with Senshi..and..." She went silent. What would Cruz think if Ruby told her about how he tried to kill Yukino..? Cruz put her hand on Ruby's shoulder, Ruby raised her head.
"It's okay, Ruby. I already know what he did. He's not himself, I don't know what got him like that, but I think we can save him." Ruby smiled.
"Yeah..Yeah, we can.."
Yukino wakes just a bit in the middle of the night, Senshi asleep nearby. The flicks of red and black every few seconds are happening again. Just like a few days ago.
But it now makes sense.
Senshi is no ordinary dragon.
He had no ordinary childhood.
It could have happened so differently...
That many dead in one day, nobody else knew except-
That doesn't matter now; Yukino assures herself, attempting to ease her mind.
It can't happen again.
It won't.
No, She and Ruby; they won't let it.
