“So Conor, what made you apply for the X-Factor then?” he stirred his hot chocolate with his spoon before looking up at me.
“Well, loads of people get there career going by this show and I didn’t really know how else to get noticed so this was the only real option for me I guess.” He shrugged his shoulders before placing his lips to the brim of his mug. I can’t help but notice how plump and pink his lips are. “What about you Ali?” I smiled at my little nickname I had received from him and began to tap my fingers down on the wooden table we were sat at.
“I love to sing…that’s about it for me, I didn’t really do it for the money or the fame, I am doing this because I want to do this and I want to show people what I am made of and I want to just be remembered I guess.” I smiled at him and he frowned and shook his head at me.
“You can’t deny that you would love to win though…”
“I didn’t say that,” I gave him a little wink and he chuckled to himself. “I would love to win but sometimes it’s not always about winning, even if I don’t win, if I get to the live shows, even that would be a huge accomplishment for me,” I took a sip of my coffee.
“You made my answer sound really shit, wow thanks Alise.” I laughed and shrugged my shoulders at him before speaking again,
“And plus, if I get to the judges houses, I get a free holiday.” I gave Conor a huge smile and he shook his head and laughed.
“Oh of course, we can’t forget the free holiday.” I glanced over at the clock in the café and it had almost been an hour.
“I didn’t realise how long we had been talking for, come on we got to get back before they call us all in again.” I got up from my chair and grabbed my over the shoulder bag. Conor stood up with me and of course, he grabbed my hand again.

The suspense was killing me. I had been waiting in this stupid room for what seems like hours. How long does it take to decide who they want to put through and who they want to tell to fuck off? I just need to kn-. I was cut off mid thought when a man stepped out clutching a clip board to his chest.
“Okay can you all listen for your names, we have a lot of people to get through, when I cal your name, follow me and I will take you to see the judges. Okay first up can I have Georgia Taylor-” The names kept on going until he finally finished. The large group left and we were all left to wait once again. I caught a hand waving in the air to me from across the room. I rolled my eyes but walked over to him.
“ALI! I’m shitting myself right now! How are you doing?” I gave Conor a scared look which he found amusing. “I just want to get it over with you know?” I nodded, scared that my voice would show my nerves. “Aw, you are scared aren’t you!” Conor grabbed me in a tight hug and rested his cheek on the top of my forehead.
“Let go of me you idiot!” Conor burst into laughter and I couldn’t help but smile. Suddenly, the large group of people who got called through came walking back into the room. Some looking disappointed and others crying hysterically. I stood on my tip toes to whisper in Conor’s ear. “I don’t think they got through…”
“You don’t say.” I burst out in laughter which got me a few evil stares from the people walking back in the room.
“Okay next can I have, Conor Maynard, Hannah Rose, Alise Uskalne-” several other names were called out but I zoned out after hearing mine. I was aware the Conor gripped my hand tightly and I began to follow the man with the clip board. We entered the same room where we did our last audition and all four judges sat staring at us.
“Alise, your shaking, are you okay?” I shook my head at him. I wasn’t okay, I was completely freaking out. There were less of us than the first group in here but I didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
“Well we’re going to make this quick,” Simon of course began to speak, “All of you in here have huge potential and we were pleased with your first auditions…however, some of your second auditions lacked what you had in your first auditions, we had so many people to choose from but due to how well you guys CAN sing, we are willing to let you up your standards and we are going to try and help you be the best you can be, you’re through to the judges houses. You are our under 25’s category.” I can’t believe it…this is it. I am finally getting somewhere in life. I felt Conor’s arms wrap around me and lift me into the air and I let out a girly scream. I was fully aware of the cameras around us, focusing on our faces but I really couldn’t care at this moment in time.
“We’ve done it Conor, this is where it all begins.” We were still hugging and I couldn’t help the few stray tears that fell from my eyes.
