“The record deal will mean you will have to move to New York…” I took a sharp intake of breathe. The first thing that popped into my head was ‘Conor’.

“I can’t. I won’t have a place to stay, I won’t know anyone, I won’t even know where to go! I won’t have Conor…”

“Alise I can easily get you an amazing place to stay and you will have your own personal assistance. There is a solution to all your problems.”

“Accept one…Conor…” Simon rested his arms on his table.

“There isn’t a solution, but there’s a decision. You either have a career with something you have always wanted to do in life, a career that is safe and stable or, you have a relationship which might not make it to next month. You’re young Alise, there are other people out there but there isn’t another deal out there like this one. It’s your choice. A strong career or a little fling with a boy.”

“Me and Conor aren’t just a ‘fling’. I love him which you obviously don’t understand.” I rose from the table, making my chair scrape against the kitchen floor. “Sure, Conor’s done a few messed up things but he’s changed and I forgive him. If I go to New York I say goodbye to practically everything. Conor, Friends, Family. Everything.”

“But what do you get in return? Money, Fame, a Career. Isn’t that why you applied for the show in the first place? To achieve your dream? Did you forget about that? You didn’t come here to find the ‘love of your life’ you came here to win. You won and now I’m offering you a once in a life time opportunity. So why are you going to turn it down?” Simon was right. Of course he was right, he’s always right. I came here to get fame and now I’ve been offered it. I took in a sharp breathe and looked up at Simon.

“W-where do I sign?”

“Hey Conor, do you mind if I come down to see you?” Conor had gone back to Brighton for a few days and was going to see me again on the weekend. But as I’m leaving in a few days, he’s not going to see me again.

“Sure, is there a reason? I’m seeing you soon anyway!” I held back the tears that were threatening to spill over.

“Yeah, I need to speak to you, I’ll explain when I get there, see you soon. Bye.” I quickly hung up the phone and got in the car that would take me to Conor’s. It took just over an hour to get from London to Brighton and before I knew it, I was standing at Conor’s front door. I knocked on it three times and Conor opened it quickly with a huge smile on his face.

“Hey Ali!” He pulled me into a tight hug and I hugged him back, pulling him closer to me. “Come on lets go upstairs.” I followed him up the stairs and sat down on his bed. “So, what was it you needed to talk to me about?” I looked up at him with sad eyes.

“I’ve been offered a record deal.” Conor’s face lit up with happiness. “But…It’s in New York…” Conor’s face fell immediately. “And I decided to take it, I’m leaving on Thursday.” It was Tuesday today so I had two days left in the UK.

“Y-you’re leaving?” I nodded my head. “Forever?” I nodded my head again and this time I couldn’t help the tears that were streaming down my face. “Well…what about us? What happens to us now?”

“I think you already know the answer to that Conor…”

“But I thought everything was going great for us Ali…I thought you loved me?” I let out a sob.

“I do love you Conor! Don’t ever doubt that I don’t. I will always love you no matter how old I am. I will always remember you okay.” I moved over to Conor and sat down on his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck. “But I have to think about my career. I applied for the show so I could get somewhere in life and now I have the opportunity, why wouldn’t I take it?”

“So you could stay with me? Please Ali, don’t go, stay here with me, you’ll have me forever if you stay!” Conor was crying now too.

“But…Maybe that isn’t enough…”

“I’m not enough for you?” I looked at Conor and shook my head. Pain flashed across his face.

“I love you so much Conor but I have to put my career first now. This is what I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl. I have to do this.”

“When I was a little boy I dreamed of being an actor or a singer. But I also dreamed that hopefully I’ll be happy. And now I finally thought I was happy and that one of my dreams had come true but now, you’re sacrificing my dream to make yours come true…”

“Please don’t make me out as the bad guy here Conor.” I hugged Conor tighter but he pushed me away. He rejected me?

“Alise…” He used me by my name, not my nickname… “I think you should go…”

“Conor, don’t do this please…”

“This time I didn’t do anything Alise. This time it was you.” I felt my heart break a little inside me as Conor told me to leave. I nodded my head and got off of his lap and made my way downstairs. As I was about to leave I heard objects smashing from upstairs and Conor’s loud screams. I did that. This is my fault.
