By now, Bane was a Sith Knight, but had completely lost trust in the Brotherhood of Darkness, and decided not to tell anyone or give any hints until he was very powerful. He thought everything was a lie. Skere Kaan, the head of the Brotherhood of Darkness, always talked of destroying the Jedi, but never did so. He never put together anything to try. Bane believed him to be a coward and a fool. Bane thought that he himself could lead the Sith better. He started to be very quiet at the Council meetings, just so he could get information.
After he gained lots of information, he made a plan to steal Qordis's ship and leave to study Darth Revan's Holocron. Bane left at dawn and got into Qordis's ship. He hovered the ship in the air as Qordis walked out of the temple.
"MY SHIP!!" He screamed.
Bane looked down and glared at Qordis, thinking about the lies he told. Bane set the ship to hyperspace and he flew all the way to the planet Lehon to study Revan's Holocron.
Bane got out of hyperspace and came upon Lehon. After he landed, he used a tracker to find where Revan's Holocron was. The tracker located the Holocron at the Temple of the Ancients. He soon came upon the temple. It was tall and made of gray stones. Bane walked slowly up the path and into the dark temple. It was gigantic and decaying. The temple was over 3,000 years old. Bane ignited his saber to give some light. He stepped on a pressure plate by accident which raised a table from the center of the temple and the temple was lit up. A red transparent cube was in the center of the table. Bane retracted his blade and walked up to the table.
He touched the cube, which felt cold. He pressed a button in the center of the cube, and it opened up, a sphere levitating above the opened cube. The sphere let out a hologram of a masked figure in a cloak. The mask was long and had a thin visor. Bane instantly knew what the hologram was. It was Darth Revan. The hologram spoke these words:
"Greetings, Sith learner. I congratulate you for finding this Holocron and I hope you learn something from my teachings. True power can come only to those who embrace the transformation. There can be no compromise. Mercy, compassion, loyalty: all these things will prevent you from claiming what is rightfully yours. Those who follow the dark side must cast aside these conceits. Those who do not—those who try to walk the path of moderation—will fail, dragged down by their own weakness. Those who accept the power of the dark side must also accept the challenge of holding on to it. By its very nature the dark side invites rivalry and strife. This is the greatest strength of the Sith: it culls the weak from our order. Yet this rivalry can also be our greatest weakness. The strong must be careful lest they be overwhelmed by the ambitions of those working beneath them in concert. Any master who instructs more than one apprentice in the ways of the dark side is a fool. In time, the apprentices will unite their strengths and overthrow the master. It is inevitable; axiomatic. That is why each Master must have only one student-"
The Holocron made a buzzing sound and cut off. The Holocron had only captured some of Revan's teachings, but that was all Bane needed to overthrow the Brotherhood of Darkness.
