Present Day

I was out getting coffee with some friends. Cat and Ana were my best friends. The ones who got me to stop smoking and start smiling.

"So, what's the plan for today?" Cat asked.

"Avoid the boys." I said.

The boys were coming home today and I didn't want to see them. Especially Niall.

"Riley, you can't avoid him forever." Ana said to me.

"I can try." I muttered as I sipped my coffee.

We finished our coffee and headed out of the cafe. There was a crowd of girls down the street surrounding a van. And that's when I saw them. The boys waved at the fans and smiled. The last one out of the van was Niall. I ducked my head.

"Come on, let's go," I said.

The girls nodded and we crossed the street and walked the opposite direction the boys were going. I looked over at them and Niall's glare caught my attention. He saw me.

"Riley!" He shouted.

I kept walking as if I didn't hear him. I heard him running after me but I didn't turn around. He finally caught up and spun me around.

"Hey. I missed you!" He yelled.

He tried to hug me but I pushed him off. The others walked over towards us. The fans stayed back, but kept a close eye on their idols.

"Stop." I said.

"Stop what?" He asked.

"Stop acting like we're still together. Don't try to talk to me. Just leave me alone." I whispered.

I waved to the boys and walked away. I couldn't deal with him right now. I was supposed to be over him, but seeing him killed me. Acting like I didn't care killed me. I heard someone behind me. I turned around and saw Zayn.

"What was that about?" Zayn asked.

"I can't be around him. Just let me walk away. You wouldn't understand." I said.

"We want to understand." He told me.

"No, you wouldn't." I said.

I turned away and walked down the block, leaving behind Cat and Ana. Maybe they could explain what happened. Because I wanted nothing to do with Niall Horan.
