Twin Mates

It never lasts...

Alex's POV:

"Somethings been bugging me..." Kameron started. I had a feeling I knew what he was going to say but I was hoping otherwise.

"Yeah, same here." Nathan added. By then I was nervous. I knew they were my mates and at least one of them would be king one day, but I dreaded explaining the situation I'm in.

"How come the princess is staying with our pack as a permitted rouge when you could be our honored guest?" Kameron asked uneasily.

"And on another matter, where are your guards? " Nathan stated confusedly, as if he couldn't comprehend why the princess was traveling unprotected. It was understandable, the werewolf kingdom didn't get along with all races of supernatural. Especially the vampires, sirens, and unseelie fae.

"Well," I was searching for the right words to explain to them why I was in this situation.

Finally I ended on the lamest excuse ever.

"It's complicated." I ended with a grimace. I heard two identical growls that snapped my head up. I looked into the darkened eyes of my mates to see anger.

"We are your mates. You won't keep secrets from us. We won't allow it." Nathan spat.

"You will respect us. We are your Alphas." Kameron was shaking. Obviously they were possessive and dominant. But they didn't quite understand who they were dealing with. I had a shied around me preventing the true force of my power from being sensed. They needed to learn some respect. I may not seem like it, but I am the most powerful werewolf in the world. Not even my parents could hope to match me. I got a lot of my power from an event in my childhood that I'd rather not speak of, but I turned a bad event to my advantage. It was time to show them who was the true Alpha in this relationship. I knew this wasn't me, but I was powerless to fight it. I felt as if this was someone else invading my body, but knew it wasn't. That was what scared me.

Kameron's POV:

My wolf was taking over, he was the alpha and wasn't going to take disrespect and secrets from anyone. Especially not his little wisp of a mate. I could tell that the same thoughts were racing through Nathan's head as well. She glanced up at us surprised at our growls. Her wide eyed look quickly changed to one of rage. Her wolf took over, changing her eyes to pitch black. What really surprised me though were her red pupils. When the wolf takes over the entire eye turns black. There is no white, no pupil, no color. With her red pupil she looked terrifying. I felt the anger drain out of me, leaving only a mind numbing fear.

"Oh shit." I heard Nathan to my right and could only silently agree. That's when I felt it. Wave after wave of unimaginable power washing over me. It was so strong I fell to my knees. I felt my hands begin to shake in fear. I felt my wolf travel to the furthest corner of my mind, curl up and start shaking and whimpering. I couldn't help myself, a whimper escaped me.

I looked up to see Alex. She was glowing. Not the normal white aura that meant great power, but dark black whisps shooting from her like tendrils of pure evil. They had a shocking contrast that I found strangely beautiful. The words she said next chilled me to the bone.

"How dare you?" She was strangely calm, but it was more of the silence before the storm. I could hear Alex's lilting windchime voice that I loved, but there was an undertone of a deep baritone voice shadowing her own that sent shivers down my spine, bringing up a deep primordial terror.

"How dare you act as if you were my superior? My dominant half? I have power that sends gods trembling in fear. Your power is insignificant. Do NOT disrespect me again." I was so terrified I felt a tear slip down my face. As if she could sense it her power receded, once again blocked by a shield. I felt a timid and shaking small hand reach towards my face to wipe away my tear. I flinched away uncontrollably and then I heard a small smothered gasp. I felt her presence recede. As she fled the room I heard a small "I'm so very sorry." I felt her getting further away leaving behind only the salty smell of hear tears.
