The party had advanced towards the desired destination and they could feel the climate gradually getting lower and soon after a while, the air was too penetrating for their mortal bodies to bear. There was no snow at all and the sun still shone brightly upon the group but no heat clashed against the brisk breeze.
Xenovix gazed upon the vast sierra that had advanced out before him. The mountains had contrasting verdants crowded between forests and grasslands. He desperately rubbed his hands together, trying to get warm but it was in vain. His apparel was too frail to keep him temperate and his nose and fingertips were numb from the chilling air. Snow hadn't fallen yet and the group was already shivering from intense climate.
Up close, the mountain range was taller and greater than they had expected it to be. The mountaintop was so high that it couldn't even be seen, as it reached into the clouds, disappearing from their vision.
Deafening cries were heard from afar as gigantic amber birds soared in the sky, leaving behind the tiny-sized group compared to the beasts.
"We should head back."
Axvel had broke away his paced walking, now turning to the group.
"Why not?" Isri pondered, the girl's lilac eyes was full of curiosity and she had no signs of turning back.
"This is no good, it is too dangerous for weak and unskilled travellers like we." Axvel cleared his throat, attempting to persuade the party into giving up on their audacity of exploring the exotic and colossal mountains.
"After all that walking? No can do, I am afraid to say." Sayrim answered back, adjusting her scythe into a better position on top of her shoulder before walking around the concerned and distressed wizard.
"I must say, but I agree with Sayrim." Isri said softly, giving Axvel a gentle smile.
"I indeed would like to adventure through the ranges. After all, we are travellers, did you not just say?"
The girl had a sense of restlessness bestowed inside of her that wanted to come out and explore the lands on her own, instead of listening to them from novels her brother would read to her every so often.
Axvel was startled with her sudden eagerness and enthusing clumsy grin. Even her brother, was equally just as surprised like the wizard.
"Travellers? Isri, we are not any travellers. We are-"
"What are we wasting our time on then? We should go!" Sayrim had once again interrupted the dazed and vulnerable man, as he sighed and shot Sayrim miffed glares.
Xenovix stayed quiet, studying the large creatures that was now perched upon the tips of forest trees, that was quietly watching the group reason away.
Sayrim was the first to step onto the rocks that had fallen from the high peaks of the mountains and she was thrilled as she hopped onto a rock after another, signalling for the others to follow.
Instead of Xenovix being last, Axvel had replaced him, his steps was gradually getting minor and shorter as they advanced towards the mountains.
"Are you sure about this? The steps are incredibly dangerous and I bid you all to come back." Axvel called out from behind. Ixal was standing beside him, nodding his head at his sister, agreeing with the wizard's protests.
"Isri, it indeed will be too dangerous for you."
Isri flashed the two men with an unsatisfied and agonized look, causing the two to quiver about their words. Isri looked down at her feet in silence, eventually, descending from the mountains, to where the other two were.
