The group had hurriedly made their way towards the alluring flames, scanning through the fire, terrified.

Everyone's eyes widened with fear as they watched the monstrous creatures soar across the sky and grab onto villagers and either dropping them to their death or swallowing them whole. They were devouring them like they were nothing at all.

The village was in chaos and a woman screamed and wailed as she watched her infant being carried away by the beast.

"W-What are those?" Isri breathed out.

"I wish not, but I am afraid that they are gawkers, a huge threat to us mortals." Axvel explained, his voice was strained and cracked, too anxious to continue.

"Help!" A soft feminine scream was heard from a young girl, she was being taken away by the beast as she desperately clasped her arms around the door knob, as her bottom half was being tugged at by the aggressive and over-powered creature. Axvel immediately started to murmur to his staff, sending threatening blows of ice towards the gawker, as it released a shriek of pain as a blow was sent to its side, instantly letting go of the girl who was weeping silently inside her cottage, slamming the door shut after giving Axvel a quick glance.

"We shan't stay here for much longer, must I add." Axvel called over the loud agony screams the villagers had let out.

"Should not we help them?" Isri exclaimed, her voice shaking with guilt.

"We can not. If you do, remember, I will by any means sacrifice you all. I suggest you follow my instructions and flee with me."

The wizard sounded confident but his throat was dry and painful as the words were spat out without a single thought.

The group hurried to leave, a few looking back without a choice and some with their heads faced forwards, wanting to get away from the horrid scene as fast as possible. There belongings were safely placed where they had left them and Xenovix wanted to leave as fast as possible but he knew that it was too dark to proceed onwards.

Everyone awkwardly climbed back into their covers and tried to fall into a peaceful slumber.

But no one could fall asleep. It was practically impossible, as everyone of them attempted to block out the clamor and lament that had echoed throughout the area.

Morning came much slower than usual and no one spoke a word as they quietly packed for the trip that was ahead of them.

As they passed through the damaged and burnt down village ruins, they couldn't help but turn away from the dead bodies that were scattered across the silenced and lifeless village, with only a few survivors remaining, who were silently gazing upon their ruined homes or family loss.

A sob was heard and a girl was crying over a still body, as she didn't take notice when the group had quietly walked up to her, only to be taken back that the girl was the same one who had wanted them away from the village and laying beside her was the brunette girl, her eyes were closed and blood stains could be seen at the corners of her slightly ajar mouth.

Her eyes were red and her hands were clenched tightly around the lifeless girl's pale hands.

"Go away!" The girl let out a loud scream, startling the group as they speechlessly watched her embrace the dead body and mutter for her to come back to life. Of course, all this was in vain. Her voice was now choked and tense as her sobs gradually disappeared.

"If we may ask-" Axvel got interrupted by the angered girl, wiping away her tears away from her check.

"You may not. I am not in the mood at the moment I must say. I apologize for my rudeness."
