Xenovix felt the pain pulsing in his bruised feet as they crunched across the forest floor. If he remembered correctly, it had been weeks since he last saw a town. He squinted at the flaring sun, as it was shining its rays down upon him.
Xenovix felt exhausted and heavy as he dragged himself over to a tree and leaned back, wiping immense amounts of sweat that had formed on his forehead. He pulled out his water bottle and waited for the drops to fall into his stale mouth. The water was bone dry as it was yesterday when the last precious drops were emptied. He didn't even know why he bothered to try.
Xenovix got back up again and headed towards nowhere in particular. He didn't even have a clue of where he was heading.
'All I know of is to find this silly sword at who knows where. Mother did not even give me a clue towards its whereabouts.'
The boy couldn't help but firmly curl his fingers into a fist in frustration. Why did he agree to it at the first place?
It was too hot for him to bear, after all, he did take shelter in a cool forest hut where the sun couldn't even break the canopy before he had decided to make this painstakingly lengthy journey.
After a few more hours of dragging his feet through the bare and awfully undisturbed forest, it finally came to an end. He was literally crawling across the dirty and old surface, he didn't have the energy to get the pleasure of being delighted as he finally spotted a small village to his right. He could only desperately move faster towards it. His feet were starting to feel weaker and weaker, his body was beginning to feel too heavy for his legs to carry but he knew he had to get there.
The village was now easier to identify. He noticed thick amounts of smoke drifting from the chimneys, disappearing off into the frail wind.
To welcome his arrival, a stone fountain sat a few steps away and he gratefully took a big gulp from it.
"Hey! What are you doing brat?!"
A loud shout startled Xenovix from behind and what approached him was a tall man that towered over his small figure. The man had multiple piercings and his bald head glinted in the sunlight and he was wearing a cape obviously too small for him. His arms were crossed across his chest, clearly disapproving of the unexpected and not to mention, small visitor that stood before him.
Before Xenovix could frantically break away, he dipped his bottle into the clear water, letting out a loud, relieved laugh as he had outran the big but slow man, as the man's hoarse yells could hardly be heard from behind.
Xenovix turned his head to check if the colossal man was still chasing him before a loud shout was heard.
"Whoa!"
Suddenly, he had collided into somebody and had fallen to the floor with a loud thud. When Xenovix looked over, he saw a young girl with twisting red streaks through her charcoal black hair, but what fascinated him was her large grey wings that had spread out from behind her. She looked up at him with her coral red eyes and grabbed onto his hand and started to run, tugging at his hand anxiously.
"H-hey!" Xenovix managed to cough out while trying to keep up from behind the quick-paced girl. Xenovix couldn't bring himself to trust her so soon but he decided to go with it, as long as he could get rid of the bald man once and for all.
The two of them sprinted through the village as fast as they could, with people moving out of the way from the frantically running duo. Some yelled at them for being careless and others just shook their heads disapprovingly.
