You walk out on to the balcony of your hotel, your eyes wide. You smile dreamily and lean forward on the balcony ledge, taking in the scenes of Dublin, Ireland. Your eyes trail the River Liffey and you grin.
You push yourself off the balcony and then walk back into your hotel room. You grab a light jacket and then head out of your room. You walk outside and start walking along the River Liffey.
When you spot an empty bench facing the river, you walk towards it and then sit down. You pull your jacket snug around you and sigh, feeling so at peace here. A man sits down next to you and you ignore him, not wanting this moment to be ruined. A goose lands on the river which makes you smile.
"So beautiful." You murmur.
"It really is." The man next to you says. Your eyes widen, realizing you said your thought out loud. You look at the man and then jump back, your hand on your chest.
"Aidan Turner." You state. He winces while grinning.
"I was hoping you wouldn't recognize me, but once that look passed over your face I knew that was unlikely." He laughs. You flush, smiling.
"Sorry, it's just not often a celebrity sits down next to me on a park bench." You say. Aidan smiles and it makes your heart stop. He's even handsomer in person, and you don't even know how that's possible.
"Since you already know my name, you have me at a disadvantage. What's yours?" He asks.
"Y/N." You answer as Aidan shakes your hand.
"It is such a pleasure to meet you." He says. You smile.
"Likewise." You reply.
"Do you live here or are you just visiting?" He asks.
"I'm on vacation actually." You answer. You look back at the river, smiling. "I've wanted to visit Ireland since I was a little girl, and I thought this year was the perfect opportunity to do so." You explain.
"It is. I hope you enjoy Dublin. It's my home city, and one of the most magical places on earth... at least I think so." Aidan throws in, giving you a wink. You laugh. "I-I could show you around a bit if you'd like." He offers nonchalantly. Your eyebrows raise in surprise.
"Really?" You ask. Aidan nods vehemently.
"Yeah." He answers. You smile.
"I'd love that." You reply. Aidan smiles.
"Great." He says.---
For the two weeks that you're in Dublin, Aidan shows you to all of his favorite places. You've become close friends, and hopefully something more in the future.
"Maybe come and visit me in America sometime?" You ask as Aidan and you are saying goodbye to each other, a few hours before you leave Dublin. He nods, frowning.
"I'm going to miss you, Y/N. It was really fun having you around." He says. You sigh and hug him.
"I'm going to miss you, too, Aidan. I wish I could stay longer." You say. He hugs you tightly and lets out a deep breath. You pull back and Aidan smiles sadly at you. He puts his hands on your shoulders.
"I hope to see you soon, Y/N." He says softly. You smile and cover his hand with yours.
"Me too." You return. You hear a car honking outside and peek out your window. "My cab's here." You breathe.
"Be safe, okay?" Aidan says, looking at you. You look at him and nod.
"I'll try to." You reply. He gives you a look.
"Okay, okay, I will." You laugh softly. Aidan walks you downstairs, holding your luggage in his hands.
Once he puts the luggage in the back of the cap, he gives you another hug.
"Goodbye, Y/N." He whispers, tears in his eyes. You bite the inside of your cheek to keep yourself from crying.
"Goodbye, Aidan." You breathe. You get into the cab and shut the door. As the cab drives off, your eyes never leave Aidan's until you're well out of sight.---
You're in the Dublin airport, waiting for your plane. You pick at a loose string on your shirt, your mind wrapped around Aidan.
"Gosh, you look like you just lost your best friend." A familiar voice says. You look up and immediately jump up when you see Aidan standing five feet in front of you.
"Aidan!" You exclaim, before rushing into his arms. "What are you doing here?" You ask.
"I realized that I couldn't let you go without telling you something." He states. You pull back, your eyes searching his. He cups your face. "I like you so much, Y/N. And not just as a friend. But as something more... Something more intimate." He whispers. You smile, your eyes filling with tears.
"Oh, Aidan." You whisper. "I want that more than anything." You say. He lets out a breath of relief and hugs you.
"How is this going to work?" You ask.
"We can talk and text and Skype constantly, Y/N. I don't want to lose you." Aidan says.
"You're not going to lose me, Aidan. I promise." You respond. He looks at you and kisses you deeply, while smiling.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
