Alec's POV
"But how are we supposed to put that into a smart sentence?" Magnus asked, scrolling through some website they had found to help them with their history project.

"Um..." Alec mumbled, awkwardly moving his chair closer to look at the laptop screen and reading through the information. "Well, I would maybe-..." He turned to Magnus who was looking at him so he stopped talking and blushed immediately. He turned back to the laptop. "Uh.. What was I saying? Right. I would probably put it something like this." He said and took out his notebook, opening a free page. "Can I have a pen?" Magnus offered him his. "Thanks." He said and tried to gather the information in few simple sentences of his own. "Um.. Does that make sense?" He showed it to Magnus who read through it and nodded.

"Yeah, that's great."

"Good." Alec said and scrolled for more information. He stopped and turned to Magnus for no reason really. The other boy smiled like he knew exactly what Alec was thinking, which was scary considering he wasn't sure what exactly was he thinking.

"Yes?" Magnus asked and Alec realized his mouth was hanging open and closed it quickly, clearing his throat. "Can I help you?"

"Maybe." Alec let out before he could stop himself and Magnus raised his brows. "Can I.. Try something?"

"Use a computer for writing because even though you have a lovely handwriting, it might turn into a lot of work writing the whole thing on paper?" Magnus asked innocently and Alec laughed lightly and frowned.

"Um, no." He said. "Good idea though."

"So..." Magnus said, looking very relaxed. "What did you wanna try then?"

Alec felt nervous as hell but somehow it all faded into the back of his mind and he leaned his palm against Magnus' chair, leaning closer. He awkwardly just managed to push his own chair further away since it was on wheels but then pulled himself back and his chair hit Magnus' and he blushed. Dammit, he had such a pale skin that his blushing was probably obvious. Alec leaned in and his lips almost touched the other boy's when his hand slipped and he fell down to the floor with a yelp, his chair sliding against the wall.

Magnus moved quickly and was suddenly sitting on his knees on the floor next to Alec. "Okay, listen."

Alec was embarrassed and also confused. He was too startled to even push himself up and Magnus leaned over him.

"I understand if you're confused and I'd love to help you with anything, but I really like you, okay? I would want you to kiss me because you want to, not because you wanna see what it's like to kiss a boy who likes boys." Magnus said and Alec stared with his mouth open.

"I-.. That's not why I wanna kiss you." He said. "I really like you too. And I really wanted to kiss you." He felt ridiculous still lying on the floor but was too scared to move.

"You do?" Magnus asked and Alec nodded.

Suddenly the room door opened and Isabelle stepped in. "I was-.. Um, hi."

Alec stared, completely horrified. "Uh.. This isn't.. This is not what it looks like."

"I'm sure." Isabelle said slowly.

Magnus got up quickly. "Nice to meet you." He offered his hand to Isabelle. "I'm Magnus."

"Izzy, hi." She replied with a smile and shook his hand. Alec sat up on the floor and stared. "So..." Isabelle continued. "What's going on?"

"Um..." Alec got up quickly. "History project." He motioned towards the laptop and notebooks.

"Clearly." Isabelle replied. "That's what I always do while working on a history project." Alec scowled.

Magnus' POV
While walking home, surprisingly Magnus' mind was spinning around their stupid history project. Maybe he was unknowingly trying not to think about what had just happened.

Alec had been about to kiss him. But he fell down. How classic. Magnus wondered if he would've let Alec kiss him if something hadn't interrupted them. Maybe not. He had thought Alec was just interested because was interested to see what it was like, not because he was interested in Magnus himself. But Alec had said he liked him.. Could that be? Could it be so great that they both actually really liked each other? Maybe they should've talked about it instead of awkwardly going on with the project. Now it would probably just get more awkward.

Get it together, Bane. He told himself. Don't sweat it.

Alec's POV
"So.. When is the next time Magnus will be here working on a history project?" Isabelle asked curiously as Alec walked into the kitchen the next morning.

"Probably never after that awkward intruding yesterday." Alec mumbled. "Actually I'm going to his place today." He just said and opened the fridge, grabbing a waterbottle.

"What about after that?" Isabelle asked. "He seems nice, I would love to know him properly."

"I think we'll get the project done today so..." Alec shrugged.

"Are you actually telling me that's it?" Isabelle asked.

"What?" Alec asked innocently. "I mean I guess we're friends."

"Friends?" She repeated and he nodded. "You know, friends don't do what you guys were doing yesterday."

He rolled his eyes. "We weren't doing anything."

She laughed. "You can't expect me to believe that."

He shrugged and walked out. "I don't care about what you believe."

"Alec!" Isabelle complained.

"I don't have time for this!" He just said. "I gotta get to school before I'm late!"
