Alec's POV
"Hey." Alec said as he walked into the kitchen where everyone else from his family were getting ready for dinner. They all mumbled something in return and managed to smile but didn't pay that much attention.Am I really gonna do this? Alec thought. Really? Come on. Do it. Now.
"Is everything okay?" Maryse asked once she noticed Alec just standing at the doorway.
"Um, yeah." Alec said and stepped in properly. Now they were all looking at him. "I just.. Have something to tell you." He glanced at Isabelle who raised a brow and then seemed to realize what this was about and her eyes widened.
"Okay, what's going on?" Robert asked and Alec cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to buy himself more time and only making it more uncomfortable.
"Um.. I feel like I should.. Tell you. Like now. Like.. As soon as possible." He was mumbling, trying to avoid the actual subject. I'm gay. He thought but couldn't say it. I'm seeing someone. He's a boy. Actually, it's Magnus. Who you already met.
Max grinned. "Have you done something bad?"
"Did something happen to the car?" Robert asked then. "Is this about school?"
"No." Alec just said and swallowed, once again buying himself time for no reason. If he was gonna do this anyway, he should just do it now. Quickly. Rip off the bandate. "So..."
"For God's sake, Alec." Maryse said. "Spit it out."
"It's nothing that bad, really." Alec assured her, hoping that's what they'd think also.
"Then tell us." Maryse said. "The way you're acting is saying something else, we're already thinking of all the options so just say it."
"What exactly are you thinking?" Alec asked, kinda surprised.
Maryse sighed. "Alec-..."
"Well, what do you think?!" Robert said then. "Just tell us you're not doing drugs or killed someone."
"Oh, God, no." Alec said quickly. Yeah, he should definitely do it now. Would they really believe he had killed someone? Jeez.
"Alec." Isabelle said in a calming tone and nodded slowly.
"Yeah." Alec said then and cleared his throat again, looking down at his feet. "I'm.. I'm.. Uh..." He cleared his throat again and ran his hand through his hair before looking up. "I think I-.. I mean I know this. I just.. I'm gay." There was a deadly silence. They could've heard a small needle dropping. He looked at the others. Isabelle was biting her lip hard but smiling at him. Max was frowning thoughtfully. Robert and Maryse were just staring at him, he couldn't read their expressions or reactions at all. They could've been anything really.
"A guy?" Max asked then.
"Gay." Isabelle corrected him and Alec stood there awkwardly.
"Is that when a boy likes a boy?" Max asked and Isabelle nodded.
"Yeah."
Alec was looking back at his parents, getting more anxious by the second.
"Oh." Max just said. "I thought you've done something bad." He added laughing and Alec wished he would know if he had. He really couldn't read his parents' reactions.
"I.. Are you.. Sure?" Robert asked then and Alec let out a breath.
"I.. What?"
"Of course he is." Isabelle said strictly.
"Could you leave us for a minute?" Maryse asked from the younger siblings.
"What? Why?" Max complained.
"This really isn't that serious." Isabelle tried. "Can't you just-..."
"Isabelle." Maryse said strictly and Isabelle opened her mouth but Alec interrupted her.
"It's okay, if they wanna talk that's fine." He said carefully. "As long as it's..." Okay. Would it be?
"Okay." Isabelle said and walked out, pulling Max with her and touched Alec's shoulder on her way past him.
"So.. Where is this coming from?" Robert asked then once the others were gone.
"What do you mean where is this coming from?" Alec asked frowning.
"I mean.. You suddenly just.. Say this?" Robert asked and Alec laughed joylessly.
"It's not like I'm suddenly gay, dad." He said. "I just told you this now. How is that bad? I'm sorry, should've I given you a note two weeks before I bring it up so you're prepared?"
"That's not what I'm saying." Robert said strictly. "I'm just surprised."
"Well, maybe I'd want you to be something else than surprised." Alec mumbled.
"Like what?" Maryse asked then. "What else can we possibly be?"
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe happy for me for finally being comfortable enough to tell you? To trust you?" Alec asked, his voice starting to tremble and he was trying to fight it.
"Happy for you?" Robert repeated. "You want us to be happy for you for being gay?"
Alec groaned. "That's not what I meant! Are you hearing yourselves?"
"What do you mean then?" Maryse asked. "What do you want from us? What reaction are you looking for? Are we supposed to celebrate this or something?"
"No." Alec said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I don't want you to celebrate, I just want you to.. Be okay with it. Accept it. Not be surprised or whatever it is that you are right now."
"Maybe it'll take some time." Maryse replied. "I mean are we supposed to just say okay? And.. Be okay with it."
"Yeah." Alec said quietly. "Yeah, you're supposed to be okay with it."
"Because you just storm in here and drop that on us?" Robert asked.
Alec sighed. "Because I'm your son and you're supposed to be okay with me being me."
"Of course we're okay with you, Alec." Maryse said. "This is just..." She hesitated.
"What? Is this somehow different?" Alec asked, no longer caring if his voice shook. "You can accept me but not this part of me? I'm guessing you're not very happy to know that there's actually someone who I really like but why not tell you that too since I've already ruined your day, right? I'm sorry for being such a lousy son and letting you down and making you upset." He spat out the last words like a curse and his parents just stared. "You know, maybe you should think about if after all you're the ones making you upset. You could be fine! Hell, you could even be happy. But no, you decide to be..." He motioned towards them. "This."
"Don't talk to us like that, okay?" Maryse said strictly. "It you're allowed to feel what you feel then so are we."
Alec rolled his eyes, trying not to show just how hurt he was. "Whatever. I'm just gonna.. Go." He hurried out of the kitchen.
"Alec!" His parents called out after him but he ran upstairs to his room, grabbing his jacket, keys, wallet and phone before running back downstairs.
"Alec, stop." Said Isabelle who went after him.
"Bye, I'll see you later." He just said, walking out and slamming the frontdoor shut after him. It was getting dark already, there were some dark clouds and the pressure in the air matched the one in his chest. It was gonna rain.
AN: Here you go...:( I know this is sad but things will get better. Maybe? We'll see? Anyway, hope you liked it. Remember to leave comments. LOVE YOU GUYS. X
